My Techincs wiring harness arrived...

Big thanks to Ram335i on here allowing me to order my harness with his

First thing that shocked me was the size and weight of the whole wiring kit, I presumed it would only be a little block connector – how wrong was I

Now I am slightly confused as to what is what and where to connect? Can someone explain as the instructions sent with this are very vague?

Connector on the left connects to the back of the HU
Connector on the right connects to the car wiring
Relay (one with 4 spade connectors – Not sure what to do with this
Also have like a small plastic bit looks like a jumper again not sure where this goes?

unsure how these connect apart from I know you run one lot down to the amp and then back up to the HU
One has 9 wires and the other 8 wires

I presume these connect to the under seat subs?

I have no idea what these are for and how they connect?

One thing that is concerning me is that I have a JL xd400/4 amp, how do I connect inputs as I thought this would have had RCA out puts on the harness?

In the first picture the speaker wires have a connecter in the middle. Split that connection. Then connect into the split connecters your two long runs of speaker cable. That will give you connections from the head unit then the other side will be feeds to the speakers. Also remember you have too swap over the most connections. Hope that makes sense.

Ahhh I Understand where that connections goes

Could you expand on this?
Also how do I connect the wiring up to the amp? Do I have to make my own RCA connections?

The plug that goes into the back of the head unit will have two fibre optic cables . One will be green and the other will be green with a black armour. You have to unclip them from that mulitplug and clip them into multiplug that then goes into the headunit. On your new harness one end plugs into the stereo and the other into the origional wiring of the car. Its pretty straight forward once you have the radio out.

Are you using any type of loc that converts that signal . Thats one of the reasons i went with the ms8 it also takes care of them connections.

Correct, make sure that you take all the additional clips out of your OEM female connector including fiber optic clip, Aux in clip, CCC / CIC clips and connects it to female Quadlock of this harness.

Relay (one with 4 spade connectors – Not sure what to do with this
You do not need to do anything with it.
Also have like a small plastic bit looks like a jumper again not sure where this goes?
That seems to be fibre optic plug. Not clear from the photo though. If it is fiber optic one, you do not need it.

unsure how these connect apart from I know you run one lot down to the amp and then back up to the HU

Which wire is additional and what colour is that ?

I presume these connect to the under seat subs?

Yes, they seems to be for your subs.

I have no idea what these are for and how they connect?

I guess black wires are to connect to sub and clip connects to sub wires in yoru above photo.
Green coloured wires are jumpers as if your subs OEM clips require it. I do not think you will need it if your OEM sub connectors have only two wires.

One thing that is concerning me is that I have a JL xd400/4 amp, how do I connect inputs as I thought this would have had RCA out puts on the
harness?

Yes, you will require RCA bullets.

I do not know how much you paid for this.
Sell it on this forum and buy mine which comes ready for XD400/4.
Before somebody comes along and accusing me of trading and bla bla, I am just joking.

Macck, he will not require it, as XD 400/4 accepts differential balanced input.
Only RCA bullets.

Sam - if I had known when i came for the amp i would have bought yours but I had already ordered this couple days after - wish I did buy yours all ready

Begining to think this is going to be hassle

The blue wire is additinal which I presume is the remote turn on lead?

Will I need a LOC as now only I am worried about how to connect onto amp as there are no rca connectors?

Diagram sent to you stated:

- Quadralock harness install behind radio/iDrive
- 9-wire extension cable is the radio/iDrive output. Wires assignment is printed on each.
- 8-wire extension cable is the OEM speakers input.
- black cables with Molex connectors are the woofer cables
- short jumpers are the woofer connector jumpers
- modified OEM MOST connector is to replace the OEM MOST in your Quadralock in case that it does not lock up into the harness Quadralock

All this require DIYer experience or professional install. Ordering of the Stereo harness does not include install support of any aftermarket equipment. Support is only limited to problems or/and warranty with the harness itself.

It is pretty simple mate.
No LOC required unless if you want to add noise / complexities into your system.
Just add RCA connectors at the end of the harness and into your amp.
Beauty of XD400/4, switch it to 2 channel and you will need to connect only a pair of RCA wires and that will power all 4 channels.

Simples.

P.S: yes blue wire should be amp remote wire and you will require that to feed to your amp.

Thanks Sam, i really do wish I had purchased your wiring loom (live and leanr and all that)

RCA connectors where can I buy them at short notice as I am planning on installing this Friday

So let me get this staright in my head -

The loom with 9 wires I will run from the HU to the amp, the bare wires on the end I will fit rca connectors - how do i fit these is it by soldering?(I am presuming 2 wires per rca?) and then the blue as remote turn on lead

Then the return loom, how/where do I connect the bare wires on that onto the amp - do i need to connect all 8?
Or just the 2 fronts per channel i.e. front left on one channel and front right on the 2nd channel

Apology if above sounds stupid but i am having difficulty trying to picture it in my head, maybe once I start to instal be easier but i like to have it planned out in my head beforehand)

Ahh it makes sense now to me -

From HU (with 9 wires)

Blue - Remote turn on lead
White = LF +
White with Black strip = LF -
Grey = RF +
Grey with black strip = RF -

Green = LR +
Green with black strip = LR -
Purple = RR +
Purple with black strip = RR -

So I ignore the rear (tape these up) as I am only using a 4 channel amp to amp front speakers and under seat subs.

So I get a RCA connector and fit on LF + & -
Then another RCa connector RF + & -

I could do the same with the rears and RCA - is there any benefit of having this connected?

Then on the return loom, same configuration as before but I fit
channel 1 - LF + & -
channel 2 - RF + & -

Channel 3 - L Sub + & - (the black cables with connectors)
Channel 4 - R Sub + & - (the black cables with connectors)

i think that is right? Can someone post a link to the correct type of RCA's needed?

Ebay item number: 180793596183
You need mini screw driver to fit the wires.

For rears, just bridge them next to amp.

Again, put the amp on 2 channel mode. Feed it from pair of RCA and it will power all 4 channels.

If you ever go for 6 channel amp, then you can add RCA to rears and connect the returning wires to amp.

HTHs.

What do you mean by For rears, just bridge them next to amp?
Edit
Ohh do you mean loom going to the amp LR + join onto returning loom to HU LR + and so on?

As rears are not amplified, so the wires which are bringing the signals from the HU should be connected to the wires which are taking signals back to the male connector of the harness.

It has nothing to do with the amp at the moment.

If you dont use the rear HU output, your rear gongs will be very quiet, barely noticeable. Unless you don't really mind, I'd say either connect all 4 outputs to the XD, or if possible join front and rear outputs into 2 channels into the XD. Both ways you will get rear PDC gongs from your amped speakers, so your fronts.

I did not realise I would lose the pdc gong, I will connect the rear incoming to outgoing back up to the HU to keep the pdc gongs.

if I joing front and rear outputs onto 2 channels that would mean my rear speaker be amped not sure if this would be possible
