Winter tires on stock 18's

Looking for snow tires for my '07 e92 335i, im planning on putting winters on the stock 18's i have now then getting some new 19's in the spring. My question is how much clearance do i have regarding sidewall height on 18", I've searched but only found wheel width clearance not diameter. Being on the north shore of lake erie id like to have the car sitting as high as it can possibly be for the most ground clearance but also obviously not have any rubbing issues, i was thinking like a 225/55/18? Maybe even taller? Anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated!

This is the general forum. You need to ask your question on the Tire / Wheel forum.
