I just searched the thread, and probably skimmed right over this so here is an idiot question - what effect will 91 octane have on this tune? Cheers.

None. All the tuning we've done so far is on 91oct. 93oct will give even better results.

Hey Shiv, I know we only have 2 (or maybe 3) for the southern cali area but since you are so close do you still need 5? I'm sure we will get a couple more but just in case we didn't.

Cool; I am sure that question has been asked so I appreciate you answering it. I can almost guarantee Toronto will never get 5 people together for tuning (which is a shame), but when my e92 hits NA shores you can bet I'll be in contact with you. Cheers.

A Houston dyno day sounds like a good idea.

Shiv--would a custom exhaust, like the one you are running right now be detrimental or even that different than the exhaust you are producing?

I have a question Shiv. I know you're working on switch/button for the Xede off/on and likely looking at placing it in the ashtray area. I'm not worried at all about the Xede install or its performance, I feel pretty confident in the quality of the work you guys are known for out there. However, you said you can remove in 15 minutes and I guess reinstall in 15 minutes as well. Im wondering how hard it will be, and am I going to have to take the Xede out every single time I take the car into the dealership? Also, how hard/easy will it be to remove this switch/button in the ashtray, too? I was sort of under the impression that the switch in the ashtray would be sort of permanent, but a BMW mechanic sees the wires or the switch installed in the ashtray, Im assuming they're going to write it up or use it as potential warranty issue is there are things wrong with the car?

I would travel there to get it, so keep my name in mind if it is needed to make the count

If we get the Xede mapped for the stock exhaust then later we decide to buy the exhaust, do we need to get another xede or is it possible to "program" it according to the exhaust?

You would be able to download the new map. Not sure about the medium used, but Shiv has said before he would make multiple maps available as well as upgrades to existing maps. I believe he said the Xede would come with 2 if not 3 separate maps. (People were toying with a valet map)

So Shiv, let's say any group of 5 that was ready near or far, when would be the soonest date the Xede will be ready for sale? Will it be ready to go by next week?

It's ready right now. Once someone tells me that they have a group of people ready to go, all I need to do is work it into my schedule. For LA, this isn't a problem since I go down there regularly for work. In fact, just 3 people in LA would suffice to bring me down there (1-2 weeks is doable given dyno availability over a weekend). Ther Dyno is use for such dyno days is out in Colton justs just 5min from Cal. Speedway (fontana).

The production Vishnu exhaust doesn't exist yet. But, yes, there will be something special about it if I get my way

yummy.
Shiv, if you came to LA, would we be able to hook an Xede up to my 330, and have a little fun? just curious

Would it be possible to get a pre-production custom made exhaust that would be similar to the production? (maybe for a little more $$ or something) just a thought.

Performance-wise, just as long as the piping is 2.5" and the mufflers are straight-thru, any exhaust will be just fine. It's the sound thing that we are going to work on.

I can certainly try but it'll be more time consuming (and costly) since i'd have to basically start from scratch. And I have no idea what kind of power gains we'd see. It would basicially be a custom one-off job which means that I'd need a few days with the car.

PM with an guess on how much it might cost me, if I came and dropped the car off at your place for a few days.

It's about to have a high quality catback exhaust on it, too.

Very cool - I'd imagine this would be something us Canucks would do in the spring; since the added power won't do anything in the winter but spin us out.

I think more people will have their cars then to, so maybe come March/April we can get 5+ people together and get this going.

Shiv,

Would it be cheaper to buy the Xede/exhaust as a combo rather than buying them individually at different times? Just wondering because if that's the case then I would want to wait until the exhaust is ready to be sold (which will be like sometime in FEB 07?)

Shiv - how come you say the Xede is ready... but when I emailed your company they said they would put me on a wait list? Are you ONLY doing dyno installs... I thought the beauty of the Xede was that it was so easy even a non-DIY yourself guy could slap it on. A dyno would be nice, but I have a feeling my car is just like all the other 335i... you dyno-one you dyno-em-all... right?
