question on dynos

I did my dyno last fall with a Mustang Dyno and got 340whp/360wtq. How different would it be if I had it on a Dynojet? Any guesses on that?

My shop tells me their mustang dyno is about 7-8% lower than a typical dynojet. They used to use another shop's dynojet for all of their cars. Now they installed a Mustang Dyno in their own shop and have compared all of the dyno sheets.

They prefer the Mustang for tuning since it puts a realistic load on the car while it dyno's (better street simulation).

I've always preferred Mustang, simply because it's more accurate with the car being under load, and i trust it more for comparison purposes when modding. However, they do produce lower numbers, so for all the dyno queens...dynojet is preferred. not to say i'm not one of those "queens"

well it all depends on how you use it. if you have baseline numbers on the dynojet, the modded numbers are fine for comparison... same for mustang dynos.

it's all about the delta.

It is just more "fun" to see the bigger numbers and the bigger increases. You will notice for every car on every forum and at every car meet the numbers people will claim are ALWAYS gonna be Dynojet with STD correction. This gives the highest results, plus it works out since everyone ends up using the same standard for car to car "comparisons".

A local shop was showing my numbers on an SSTT to some local M3 guys, comparing the dyno's and they were amazed at the torque curve It really makes an M3 look very weak except up near redline where they finally make the HP.

I have a stage 3 tune from Dinan, catted DP's from Ultimate Racing, and that is about it. So if I did a dyno jet run I would probably end up with roughly 355 or so? I should do another run this fall when it gets cooler and not 110 out everyday. I am contemplating doing a turbo swap soon too.
