Yeah, I am just a young adult. It is kinda hard for me to get test drives. But, I am looking into becoming an SA at a local dealership! Hope that pans out just fine! If so, I might be getting the 1'er sooner than I thought!

i blame the search feature/button. over time we have collected a database of good information on all-things 1er, and we either use the search button to find what we want or are "encouraged" to use it before posting.

it's nice not seeing the same old threads over and over though. like "which angel eyes are the best" or "which intake should I get" or "which tune should I get" or "after 1200 miles the car's fast" or "here are photos of my stock car" (guilty). actually nevermind about the last one, i like seeing pics. just want to see more modded pics, to give me some ideas of what to do cosmetically.
i think a big problem is the modding market is so freaking slow to catch up to new cars, that we don't have a lot of new things to talk about. most of the posts are by people trying to decide which options to get on the new car they are buying. for example, i've been researching angel eyes, and it seems that there are really no good solutions out there (bright as stock but whiter). the 135 uses the same bulbs as the freaking e92. it seems like there should have been enough time to come out with some decent bulbs already. i think by the time the modding market catches up to this car i will have moved on to my next car. but i hope i'm wrong.

Not only are the mods slow coming, but I've decided to hold off on doing anything until spring. My guess is that with the current economic situation, people are being more conservative and not running rampant with mods.

This has certainly affected me though I get bored and do a lot of research anyway. Come spring I'm gonna have the OEM wheels resurfaced and powdercoated gunmetal, get a bunch of interior mods done.

I know that I've slowed down posting, very considerably, due to lots of travel I've been doing for work. I'm just briefly checking in now from the road.

Guilty. I picked up my car in mid August and been having a blast with it ever since...
I've been meaning to sign in more, but work has been really busy. Hope to get back to the forum more often. Looking forward to the 09 photos.

I find it hard due to the damn nice car! When ever I keep trying to use the computer, Yoda keeps humping my leg and wines to go for a drive.

Maybe i'm one of the last "OG"s, having been here since last year, and do not have my car in the US yet so I don't have the distraction, but could it be the car is just so damn distracting its causing the "OG"s not to post anymore?

The vibe is no where near as positive as it was in the past. I have no need for the negative opinions of these wanna be race car drivers that think they know more than the worlds automotive press. Addicts are always very defensive and I am still completely addicted

I think the biggest reason for the slowdown (from my experience in other forums) is the general lack of aftermarket support. If you have a lot of guys modifying their cars, tweaking suspension settings, debating tire choices, brake pad choices, and tuning settings... then you have an active forum. With BMW's move to a frozen tune (or whatever you call the new ECU) it's a lot harder to chat about tuning results and new mods.
Plus, 9000 cars isn't a whole lot of traffic in the niche. |

I agree with all of the above. Also, I think the site loses a lot of traffic due to the policy against posts regarding "steet racing" and "tuner wars". Not that anybody wants to promote that stuff here, but those are the kinds of things that create interest and spark debate.
