Those who have gone from RFT's to std tyres

Have you decided to purchase the mobility pack from BMW or something similar? I had non rft's on my Alpina and that had the mobility jobbie, I am now in the process of changing the wheels on my 330d and just want to make sure I am covered in case of a puncture. Cheers, Andy.

I've recently been given a BMW mobility pack. Before that I carried a couple of Tyrewelds and a Halfords electric pump, which was probably just as good.

I also carry a tyre repair kit with the plugs you push into the hole. Very cheap on Ebay.

No, there is a glue covered 'plug' which is pushed into the hole from the outside with an insertion tool and trimmed flush.

Oh right. My Dad kept them for repairing his crossplys. Didn't think they were legal. Not sure I'd trust them in a modern tyre. But if they get you home fair play.

I bought some of those 'plugs' after seeing them on PH.

Seems great to me, just as secure as tyreweld, easy to use, still needs fixing properly ASAP of course.

But better than tyreweld in that a fair number of tyre shops refuse to fix tyrewelded tyres due to the mess.

I have 2 cans of tyre weld and a halfords compressor.
I read that with tyre weld you cant wash it out a later date if the puncture can be repaired but the other type - slime can be washed. so bare that in mind, I went for tyre weld as I picked it up cheap

I've got this and a compressor. I've not used it on car tyres but have on my bike and it holds quite well!

I too have the continental kit.

The plug type jobbies work well on motorcycle tyres but they don't have the depth of tread a car tyre has.

I bought the BMW space saver kit (inc alloy wheel & jack etc). Also have a Dynaplug kit. And a can of Tyreweld and a compressor. You cant be too careful

Is there actually a proper space\slot for the space saver kit or do you just throw it in the boot. I suppose not so much of an issue on a tourer but I think the space in a coupe and especially a cab is pretty limited. I'd love to have a space saver for peace of mind rather than some tyreweld spunk but it would leave me with zero space for anthing else in my E93. Why on earth BMW didn't build in a spare space saver space into the floor of the boot is absolutely beyond me.

Conti Mobility kit and a spare wheel.

Guvernator, it is still an issue in the Tourer. Why do we have estate cars? for carrying goods or dog(s), and you then fill the space with a wheel. A wheel on the floor of the boot meant that there wasn't much dog room. Ended up mounting it vertically behind the seat. The issue with that is that there isn't room for the wheel behind the seat with the roller blind in place! So no blind, BMW dog guard and straps to hold the wheel upright.

I'm about to ditch the RFTs for standard rubber. Will be grabbing a few cans of tyre weld instead. Have looked at getting a space saver but its hard to find a wheel on the bay that would be suitable as its needs to have clearance for the discs etc.
