Bypassing e92 subwoofer?
Hey guys my subwoofer on my 328i coupe is blown on the passenger side. Is there any way to bypass the sub on ncsexpert or inpa? I tried to disconnect the subwoofer but when I disconnected it the speaker on the door turned off as a result so they are connected together. If I can't bypass it with ncsexpert or inpa is there another way to bypass the subwoofer only without turning off the speaker on the door?

Strange, I installed a whole set of speakers from MB Quart in my car starting the speakers in the doors and for I while I had the under seat speakers unplugged and the speakers in the doors still worked.

base audio has the door wired in parallel at the subwoofer connection. if you disconnect the sub in base audio, you lose the connection to the door speaker. if you want to disconnect the sub, you need to jump the wires in the connector.
if you have hifi or above, each speaker runs off its own amp channel.

Top Hifi, L7 has door speakers wired in series with the tweeters in the door sails. Even if what you said was true, you will alter the impedance to the speaker and the power going to it by just jumping the connection. When wiring in series, impedance drops. Which means if you jump the connection, impedance will rise and output will drop.....the speaker will be quieter than the other side. |

First of all, wiring in series generally raises impedance, not lowers it Secondly the connection in question is parallel However none of this is terribly relevant as impedance is frequency dependent. The impedance of the midrange (except in the crossover band) will be unaffected by the presence or absence of a woofer which handles a separate set of frequencies. Oh and the base system most certainly does have two woofers (iirc one for business systems in eu). They are not "subwoofers" as such but they are definitely there. Edit to the OP. If you find my build thread in the sticky, you will see how to build this jumper using oem parts. |
