BMWNA did an exhaustive search on my car and DME(and messed up the wiring!)

My car was in the shop for 7 weeks with a bad fuel pump... early on, they told me they had a rep from BMWNA requesting to come to "check it out", they also told me that this was unnusual that BMWNA would get involved.

I wonder what they were looking for? As most of you know, I have never had anything that would go in the ECU... I think they were looking for things that would show signs of my failed fuel pump... my dealer did not mention there reason for "scanning" my car so exhaustively, and of course didnt give me any trouble... my dealer is great, top notch, they take good care of me...

Funny thing is, that the BMWNA rep pulled out the DME to run tests on it, and then when they hooked it back up, they did something wrong, and delayed me getting my car when the pump actually did come in, because my dealer didnt know that the BMWNA rep hooked it back up wrong, and after they replaced the fuel pump, it still wouldnt start... so they had to hook a bunch of stuff up, and trace the problem down to what they said was that the DME harness was loose... all this was listed on my service record.

All in all I am not worried, they basically said that they used my car to try and diagnose the fuel pump issues...

And hey, I got some FREE STUFF!! : http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62173

Just a word of warning to all your PROcede/Xede people... BMWNA is watching... be careful what traces you leave behind I am glad that I never messed around inside my ECU compartment... I had no worries.

BMWNA is very active in snooping around in all 335's that fail.

i have been told also when it comes in for a problem they have to download everything and send it off to BMW NA first before they can fix anything!

BMWNA keeping a close eye on the 335's isn't unusual. It is a new car with a new motor - I'm sure they need all the info they can get to make minor improvements going forward.

People need to think very carefully about what they are writing on here. I received confirmation a few weeks ago from BMW NA that they have "Online analysts" that do nothing but read these forums. They told me it was for customer service.

They had no problem associating my user name to me.

I would think twice before bragging about any mods you do to your car.

My stealership wouldn't even install a hardwire cord for my radar detector! Said that technically you are not even allowed to use a cell phone charger.

Also said if their were any problems down the road that this power cord would for sure be blamed. Seems like BMW will stop at nothing to avoid warranty repairs.

Sounds like these lurking BMW reps should spend more time helping their customers. I have made numerous calls and sent emails to BMW to no avail. I spoke with 1 rep who stated he would get back to me by Friday, three weeks ago; I still haven't heard from him and his voicemail box is full. There appears to be a large number of BMW owners that are frustrated with BMW's customer service.

They are looking at the wiring on the ecu, not the connections just the quality and if it matches factory.

I didnt say that btw........

So they were looking to see if there were any wiring that looked like it was messed with? I figured they were just doing a bunch of random tests to see what caused the pump failure.

No worries... I never touched a single nut, bolt, screw, or wire anywhere near the ECU box.

Whats funny is that THEY actually screwed it up while looking, and caused 3 days of delay for me...

I'd like to see that color combo. I'm going into the dealer this weekend and it's between space/coral or black and Black saph/coral.

It doesn't need to be 6mb.. just something bigger/higher res.
