Rustler - read your earlier post about feeling most of the gains in 3rd and 4th.

Any differences in the exhaust note? I know only the N55's get the overrun feature.

Also, you mentioned that the engine seems to be running smoother overall. Did you have your fuel pump changed out and ECU updated under the recall prior to the Power Kit upgrade? I ask b/c I had my fuel pump and ECU updated 6-8 months ago and it seemed to smooth out the engine a bit too.

I didn't realize the overrun feature was only for the N55, but I have the performance exhaust which gives lots of great feedback during overrun anyway. I can say that I didn't notice any change in the exhaust note with the tune and the performance exhaust.

There were no mechanical fixes to my car, including fuel pump. I don't know why the engine sounds and feels smoother but it definitely is. It was clattering loudly at idle (sounded like an old washing machine) and that smoothed out, and also at idle I would get these random drops in rpms, almost like a stutter or hiccup that I haven't noticed since. Who knows, but I like the way it's running right now.

what exactly is "exhaust burble" ?

I asked the guy at my dealership and he had no idea. He didn't think version 1 (or v2) would add any additional exhaust sound.

I go in monday to get version 1 installed and was hoping someone could give me a credible answer. Thanks in advance!

bur·ble   [bur-buhl] verb, -bled, -bling, noun
verb (used without object)
1. to make a bubbling sound; bubble.
There are probably some videos posted that demonstrate the sound. But let's say you are driving your 6 speed down the street in second gear with your foot on the throttle, keeping it at the same revs. When you lift off the throttle, you will hear the bubbling sound from the exhaust. Kinda like "burble-pop-burble-littlepop-burble-burble-burble", for just under one second. You can make it repeat by lightly tapping on the throttle.

My car burbled prior to the PPK but totally at random and very seldom. With the PPK it never fails to happen in virtually any gear, at any speed in which I can hear it over the wind. I have to say though that with the top up, I can barely hear it at all.

Got mine installed yesterday at Flemington BMW in NJ for a total of $592 and change (include tax and 5% off coupon).
The car is clearly more responsive than before! I would definitely recommend it for those who are thinking about the PPK.

Does this kit come with the black grills? Seems I heard that it did when I was at a BMW event in Atlanta prior to the Petit LeMans. I'm not seeing that in the product description though.
Also, does The $599 price expire at the end of the month or is that the permanent price?
Thanks

I'm thinking of doing the stage one upgrade but spending $750 installed might be a tough call. I would ultimately like to get an M3 in the next two years so is spending this money now worth it. This upgrade is much less expensive than a new M3 but can it satisfy the feeling an M3 gives. I have 2011 335i with M sport so how much will it enhance what I already drive? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Version 1 installed yesterday on my Msport coupled with 4 new snows -Blizzak LM 60 RF 225/40/18.

The exhaust burble is for real and sounds cool, I hear it "crackle and pop" every now and then with music down low. The stock exhaust just sounds louder throughout with this upgrade than before. Handling does feel smoother and more responsive. I'm very happy with it!

So power kit 1 is just a software update?! Why not just get the Procede for $900ish and get 40-60hp increase. Need warranty work done...just remove the Procede...

There’s no doubt that aftermarket tunes like Proceed, Cobb, JB, etc offer much more power for the price. However, they all come with a risk that could end up voiding your warranty. Most people who opt to go with aftermarket tunes, are savvy and know how to remove them quickly on the roadside if their car requires an unexpected visit to the dealership. So from their perspective, they feel they are taking minimal to no risk in running that type of tune.
However, there are others who would rather stay with a BMW approved tune and have zero risk of voiding the warranty. Now once the warranty expires, then it becomes a no brainer in justifying an aftermarket tune. For me personally, BMW stage1 is good enough for me since I still have 2 years left. Once that’s over, I will be considering Cobb since it’s very easy to install and I won’t have to muck around with any connections under the hood.

Good reply, I guess it depends on the situation and the end-user.

Removing fog ligths is optional or it is a must to do?

In my case, the dealer called me and suggested they replace the fog lights for better cooling. The kit came with the "is" air ducts anyway and I confirmed installing them.

I believe they cannot replace the fog lights if you tell them not to.

I was not happy with the look at first but now I like it better.

I was one of those that decided to stick with the BMW kit and not risk my warranty. You can probably install third party software for a fraction of the cost, but the Power Kit I had installed also included a new intercooler and radiator fan. If you fit these aftermarket, your mods will be a lot harder to hide when you have to visit the dealership.

Do you really want to risk putting your engine under that much more stress and not have the hardware to back it up?

The BMW upgrade changed a lot more than just add some performance to my car. Somehow it made drastic changes to the gearbox setup. I wrote about it here: http://showcars.co.za/bmw/bmw-perfor...pgrade-review/

Does anyone have any idea if they will be offering this special price anytime soon? I'd really like to have this done but the price seems to be floating around $750-$850 not including installation, a little steep for my liking. Def. would like to add more zip to my 335 and keep the comfort of knowing its fully backed by BMW.

Thanks.
