Better than clay?

this "Elastrofoam" clay block from CG looks interesting, as an alternative to "real" clay, but I have not seen anyone report using it in their detailing write-ups.

Does anyone have experience with this product?

I have seen it and was getting ready to order some but I found a full bar last week. I will try it when I need another.

Doesn’t make sense economically to me....and I mean for CG. Its 20 bucks with luber and a regular clay bar without luber is the same price. On top of that it can be used 15 times!?!?!? How do they make any money on that? I’m hoping it’s not a gimmick but it sounds like one of those too good to be true things.

I wonder about that too, TT. Maybe, since its synthetic, it's dirt cheap to produce. I read here, and on Autopia, that all clay in the US come from the same source, so maybe this is their way of breaking away from that source (if this is even true).

I won't be the one to guinea pig, but I might have to keep an eye on it.

I've used one on my 335 a year after I took delivery of the car. Because it's black, you can't see what's being picked up. But using the plastic baggie trick on the paintwork, I could tell it did pull out contaminants.

If I was doing a more intensive cleaning job however, I'd probably use clay.
