JB+ at 100% vs. JB3 on Map 5? Anyone?
Guys I need a little advice here. I have been running my JB+ at 100% for a few months on 94 octane and while it's loads of fun I have gotten used to the power. That and I want to beat my buddy in his C6 LS3 Corvette. lol
If I upgrade to a JB3 running maps 4 or 5 on 94 octane will I feel or get much more power vs running the JB+ at 100%? Thanks in advance! |

as far as JB+ goes it cant hold a candle to the jb3 map 4 or 5. it can be competitive against map 3 at best but still doesnt do all that map 3 does for your car. Especially Since your running 94 octane u can easily run map7 with no problems cuz i run map 7 with no mods and 93 octane and im in a lot hotter climate than you are being in Houston, TX.
Now to the second part of your question/comment. You can get a JB3, FMIC, catless DPs and exhaust. Run Map 8 with Race Gas and race a LS3 Vette stock. You'll keep up with him if not get him by a car til 100mph but then you can kiss your @$$ goodbye. You'll look at C6 taillights. Now if he does any thing like a header down exhaust, intake or even worse cams, dont even race him cuz hes gonna embarrass you. That car is on a whole different level. hope that helps

To be honest, JB+ at 100% on 94 Octane is pretty strong.
It's stronger than JB3 on Map 4 or 5 on 91 Octane. It's probably very equal to JB3 on Map 4 or 5 on 93 Octane. However, with 93-94 Octane you can run Map 6 or 7 on JB3. That should give you about 10 rwhp/rwtq peak advantage over the JB+ at 100% But you'll probably get closer to 15 rwhp more at 6500 rpms though. I have not dyno tested the JB3 1.3 or 1.4 on 93 or 94 Octane. I did dyno test JB3 1.2 on 93 Octane though. Here's that graph. **So you know, JB3 1.2 had a stronger top end than all versions of 1.3 of equal maps and I believe has every bit as strong (maybe a touch stronger) top end than 1.4 too. 1.2 was not quite as smooth as 1.3 or 1.4 though. JB+ is a pretty strong off the shelf tune. JB3 is surely stronger, especially up above 5500 rpms. As you can see JB3 1.2 on Map 6 is stronger than the JB+ at 100% but not a huge amount. I'd say JB3 1.4 on Map 4 with 93 octane would be slightly stronger than the JB+ at 100% on 93 octane, but it would be VERY CLOSE (within a few ponies up to 5500 rpms and then the Map 4 might be 5-6 rwhp more from 5500 to redline). Bottom line, get the JB3. If you have access to 94 Octane you can run Map 6 or 7 which will give you 355-360 rwhp on an otherwise stock 335i. But you won't get nearly enough to hang with a C6 LS3 Vette. Those suckers trap 116-117 stock. You need intake, exhaust, FMIC and 100 Octane and run Map 9 to hang with that (and even then past 120 the vette will probably still slowly pull away). |
