Silvercoupe, see if you can get a locksmith to make you a duplicate of the metal key inside your fob. That way you'll have a spare to open the door or trunk even though it won't start the car.

also howd you lock the doors...was the drivers door shut..because the car wont allow it to lock if the drivers door is open.
The front coupe glass is about $130. I replaced my sedan rear door glass myself which is much trickier since it has a frame, but it was a fairly simply job. Just something to keep in mind if anyone else is in this situation in the future lol.

No at that point the door is still locked, but it is easy to pull the handle from inside with the wire. The hardest part is to push that damn button.

What does that mean?
That they can't activate the service for $119 (or whatever the annual fee is) right then and there and unlock the doors??

It's all wireless anyway, it's not like they have to come and install something on your car.

I would think they still have a link to your car...right?

If you have BMW Assist, from what I have heard, you can call them and tell them you locked your keys inside and they can send a signal to unlock your car right on the spot.

Hell, even in a movie (I think it was with the kid from Transformers), he gets into a BMW and stabs the airbags so they explode. The BMW Assist lady comes on the phone through the speakers and asks if everyone is OK bc she got a signal that the airbags deployed. He tells her that he's trying to get his dying father to the hospital and needs her to start the car bc he lost the keys, and she does. LOL

Just a movie, but I know they can unlock your doors...I'm not sure about what else.

Edit:
BMW Remote Services.
Lock and unlock your BMW by phone anywhere in the world.
You're standing next to your locked vehicle and hectically check all your pockets, unable to find your key anywhere. Not because you lost it or forgot it somewhere, but because it is hidden in a bag in the boot you have just closed.
It is now possible around the world to have BMW Call Centre staff remotely unlock and lock your own vehicle. After you identity has been verified, of course.
Also available exclusively to BMW 7 Series drivers is the remote climate control. With a brief call to the call centre, a pleasant temperature inside the vehicle can be set ahead of time - before starting off on a journey.
