How about an S5 with its 4.2 V8
then again with a DMS tweak my 335D will approuch its 340 BHP

BTW - I don't know if you noticed, but she seems to have forgotten to wear her skirt. I bet she was really embarassed when picked up the photo's from Boots and realised her mistake. |

I don't think we can compare the e92 with the A5 just because they are both coupes?
There is a preview at:http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/au...8/audi_a5.html They seem to be of the opinion (as i am) that this is a competetor to the 6 series, not the 3. The A5 is a lot bigger, heavier & more expensive than the e92. If you like diesel, with the A5 you will have to pay more, for a heavier car, with (at most) 48bhp less than the 335d. If you are a petrolhead, to get a similar performance to the 335i (0-60 in 5.5), you will be needing the S5. This is expected to cost £55,000. Now i'm sure it will come with a few extras as standard over the 335i M-Sport but that is still an enormous price differential of over £20,000!!! You can buy a 318i ES for that amount! |

I'm not denying that i like the front, back & wheels, not sure about the side though. that curvy character line does not do anything for me.
the DBS is a hot looking car, but i'm not coming to compare it to an e92 |

I am very tempted by the S5, I love the looks and the price seems reasonable compared to to 335i which when loaded is nearer £43k. I will need to see one in person but the photos seem to show a bigger and more aggressive stance than the 335i.

these prices seem much cheaper compared to the previous estimates banded about. the S5 seems good value, the S4 is fraction cheaper though so these could be right.
this pricing would definatly put it in contention with the e92 how come the 3.0 TDI has 50hp less than the 335d, but is still faster to 60? |

I was in an A6 the other day and although the interior of the 3 series isn't bad, the quality of the Audi interior is so much better IMO.

My mate has an 2005 A4 3.0 TDI quattro (204bhp i think) and it is definitely not as fast as my 330cd (204 bhp) to 100mph - by a couple of car lengths. (It is also a good bit more thirsty and dirty) We both reckoned that the quattro system actually impaired the performance of his car.
I now find it hard to believe that Audi have made such progress with this same upgraded engine (240 bhp) to make it faster than the much superior 3.0 litre twin turbo bmw diesel engine - unless the A5 is half a ton lighter or something. Perhaps Audi are being a bit optimistic with their figures here - dunno. I would be thinking that the 3.0 TDI A5 would be hard pushed to overtake a 330d never mind a 335d. This is only my opinion drawn from past experience. I do dig the looks though - think it looks great. I also was under the impression that the A5 would be a 6 series competitor but the pricing definitely puts it in 3 series territory - so look out BMW!!! Lets hope Audi have done as good a job with the handling and steering as they have with the looks and we will have a cracker.

rjs - I agree. I can see the cues of the Hyundai as per earlier poster, and never been a fan of Audi and their interiors...looks too golf-like to me inside.
Looks like a hyndai and chrysler have mated with an audi a4 and TT (real car orgy).

From the autocar article
Should I buy one? The S5’s case takes a bit of a dive when it comes to money. Nice although it is, it’s going to have serious difficulty justifying itself next to the considerably cheaper BMW 335i Coupe, which is almost as fast, far more practical and still better to drive.
