Crosstrainers...
Guys/Gals,
I'm getting a little flabby and I need to do something about it. We're thinking about getting an eliptical crosstrainer because it's a non-impact motion (bad knees due to some old injuries) and if we have it in the house it's much more convenient to use vs. going to the gym (tried that, went for 6 months then gave up). Does anyone have any recommendations on a decent crosstrainer? It doesn't have to be a top-of-the-line pro level one, just something that works/is sturdy. Want to keep the spend to under a grand... |

I had a Reebok RE 3000 which was more than good enough. Plenty on eBay and most are in good condition.
Do not buy a new one as you will waste your money and it will probably end up in the garage in 6 months anyway. Just checked and there are 8 on eBay now. |

Buying an expensive machine will NOT instill motivation and dedication.
99.9% chance is will be unused soon afterwards. If your knees are shot, get physio on them and do some light off road running. If that's not possible, get a bike - both blast off pounds are are much more likely to get you hooked. And you need a goal - to lose "x" pounds, fit into "a certain size" jeans, etc - vague "I need to get fitter" statements never work. Unless you have massive personal motivation, working out at home will not work. Sorry to be miserable and negative but it's the truth. Get a bike, some trainers and get outside or if it absolutely MUST be at home get a skipping rope (on a soft floor), a punch bag and some home free weights. |
