Our car is making excellent power after the dme update with the stage 1 jb3 +5 psi and Ar Design downpipe. But it really really quieted down the exhaust and back fires.

Any n55 manual cars with v5 in here? I'm curious about the constant SES lights and half engine lights with 3-20 and 3-21 maps/firmware. Specifically, I'd like to know if the new dme updates address this or not.
I'm also curious about the issue in first gear where the car dies at 6500 rpm. At this point it seems it's only a MT issue and I'd like to know who else is having this issue and if the dme update has fixed it. Last edited by jjurroz; 06-16-2011 at 07:48 PM.. |

sounds similar to what shock'n was experince pre-dme update. go grab the dme update. do you have the new fuel harness update as well? you can download 3-21 if u have that fuel harness. I have a 6MT dme updated procede 3-21 - very solid the dme update will help.

Just curious how you guys are getting the update. Are you just requesting it? Or is the dealership recommending it at this point. Also I can't seem to find a solid answer on weather or not this update is actually better (performance wise), can some one fill me in? Really not looking forward to pulling the DP off just for a DME update, if I don't need it.

Do you get SES lights or half engine lights (limp) at idle or low cruise? What happens when you rev the car to 6500 rpm in 1st gear WOT?
I've spoken to other MT owners and they experience all of the above. If you're saying you don't and you have the latest dme update then updating may be the solution. Shiv can't reproduce (his shop car is always on the latest and greatest.) |

nope. i run on the upper rpm daily. no limp. i believe i went into limp once when the bimmer was adapting to the tune. After that, hasn't happen'd again. as long as the update is 2.40 dme or later you should be good. most likely you'll get 2.43 dme.

took my car in for a dme software 0059740 update yesterday, re-did the golf tee afterwards, seems like the car is much quieter after the update

When I had the BMW Performance kit installed 4 weeks ago, DME software was also updated.
The car is not any quiter at all.
