My car is an e92 335i. I have the OEM style 230 wheels which are 19 x 8 in the fronts with 225/35/19 tires and 19 x 9 in the rears with 255/30/19 tires. I'm planning to buy some aftermarket wheels that are off an e39 and have these specs:

19 x 8.5 et 20 fronts
19 x 9.5 et 16 rears

I really like the style of the wheels and was wondering if it is in any way possible for these to fit on my car without rubbing of course. I don't plan on lowering it as of now but if I do end up lowering it, would this setup work as well? I've read around forums and google and it's giving me a headache to figure out if these wheels will work for me. If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. Let me know if I need hub centric rings, spacers, fender my fenders, etc etc. ALSO, would my stock tires from my e92 fit on these wheels. That would save me some money since my stocks only have less than 2k miles on them. Let me know. Thank you for your time.

E39 has a larger hub centerbore, you will need to get hubcentric rings to step down to 72.56.

depending on tire size (but most likely regardless), your e92 will rub on big dips with that +16 offset in the rear. if you lower the car, you'll need to roll your fenders (rear only, cant roll the front on e92's), add more negative camber and stretch your tires a little.

Pretty aggressive setup, definitely a fender roll and stretched tires are needed

i purchased a preowned 335i thats lowered w 19s. how can i tell if my tires are stretched & fenders are rolled? do you have any pics to show the difference?

Thanks fellow Southern Californians for your input! I forgot to mention my car is a lease so maybe this setup is a bit too aggressive? I definitely don't want the dealership to find out I rolled the fenders and/or have had a camber adjustment. I don't plan on lowering it but who knows down the road. Oh yeah I almost forgot, do you guys think my stock tires will fit on these e39 wheels I might be getting? I figured out what you mean by stretched. They seem to look a little stretched already on my stock wheels. Let me know. Much appreciated!

its not "a bit too aggressive"; it is straight "aggressive."

a clean fender roll can go undetected and there wont be any damage to the body. camber adjustment can be readjusted back to stock specs too.

that said, if you have stock 19s, your 255's will fit with a super baby stretch. without a fender roll, you will rub on dips. even on stock suspension.

if you have stock 18's, you're going to need new tires for the 19s. tires stretch sideways, not vertically.

Thanks. It doesn't sound promising for this setup. Well I guess I'll just have to look for an easier setup with specific fitment for an e92. It seems like too much headache to have this done especially if I end up lowering it sometime down the road. I appreciate all your input guys!

A stretched tire looks like this:



As far as rolled fenders, you can just feel under the fender if the excess metal is pinched against the fender.
