You may want to also look into esurance.com. For me they came back lower then both Progressive or Geico.

I'm 23 and have 2 accidents (1 my fault, the other I got t-boned by a woman running a light) and 4 points on my record (2 speeding tix, each for 10mph over), and I'm currently paying $950 for 6 months on my Focus. They said it would be just shy of $1200 for 6 months when I take delivery of my BMW.

As everyone's said, a higher deductible will save your monthly cost.

for me, it also helps to have good credit. My discounts are anti_theft, passive restraints, auto/home, and Ultra preferred (that's from having good credit so they but in in an elite group and prefered customer). I wish I could afford another car so I can get Multiple cars discount. Maybe I be like Ledzep and buy a wagon...

Hey, is that sarcasm? Nothing wrong with the E91. In fact, I sometimes love it best.

guys/gals, just be thankful that you have insurance. I used to know a few people who could not even buy insurance (No insurance company would do business with them) even if they were to pay the insurance $2000 a month. That some rejection there my friend. So dont drink and drive...

Yeah they should offer if you were a Veteran. Don't know about dishonorable discharge. Can't go wrong to call unless this doesn't apply.

You are married so that really makes a difference. And you are 25. New BMW plus under 25 =$$$$$

USAA - Generally, must have joined before separation. May be able to join for a limited time following separation. Not automatically eligible due to veteran status.

Officers get the best deal - full membership. Enlisted, current and former dependents are associate members.

If you can get USAA, nobody, but nobody can beat them.

I'm 25 now but got the insurance when I was 24 (still was married). My quote didn't change when I became 25 since the discount was already reflected since I was married. Location really is everything, and NJ is as bad as it gets.

I concur with e90fanatic. Geico is the way to go. When I bought my current car from my parents, I insured it with Geico. Typical liability converage, PIP, signed on the "will-not-sue you frivilously", etc... without collision and it was $480. I was 23 at the time when I established my policy. I renewed it a few months ago (now 25) and it dropped down to $400.

Back when I was planning to buy a 325 (24 y/o) I was quoted $1030/6 months with a $500 deductible on the BMW, and I still had the Volvo on the policy.

I only put about 7-8k a year on my Volvo, so I have my average mileage set at 10k when I setup my policy.

I would also ask around if someone in your family has access to NJ Manufacturers. That's available to me from work, and I hear they are the absolutely cheapest insurance, better than Geico. They're just a pain to work with because they do everything with paper, where as Geico is quick, easy and electronic.

I would also avoid any insurance brokers. My parents bought auto insurance through a broker and they made more money on us then the re-insurance company behind them. When they switched to Geico, they saved almost 4k a year!

I hope you find a good deal. I know NJ sucks when it comes to auto insurance costs but its getting better with more companies offering insurance nowadays.

Didn't see any difference changing from enlisted to officer but they did give me a $25K LOAN FOR 2% to use on whatever I wanted. That was pretty cool. I have had them for almost 10 years and I have found no one that can beat them.
