Hi, I have a 2010 car, trying to import mp3s into the harddrive. The 256mb usb drive is formatted to FAT32 but when I inserted into the glovebox my iDrive can't detect it, like everything after the AUX options are greyed out. Anyone know what's going on?

Ready thread just below yours regarding same thing

My glove compartment USB doesn't recognize anything but USB slot in center arm console recognizes the music but won't play it cause it says wrong format

took the car to the dealer and he said it works with their flash drive...
Does anyone know what the correct format should be?? I thought it's FAT32.

A long shot, but my USB port doesn't work and I found by looking very carefully at the socket that one of the pins is actually bent inside hence why the sticks don't work.

Just gotta fix it now...

I am gonna try to format it to FAT instead of FAT32 tonight...

How do you pick the format you use on USB?...obviously I am abit clueless....

I have read some people who have had troubles actually got it to work but they had to wait a minute up to 5 minutes before the music started playing...maybe we thought it wasnt working but all we had to do is wait??...I am going to try again tonight but give it 5 minutes to start playing.

You can format it on your computer by right clicking your flash drive icon and pick property, then reformat it, pick whatever format you want.

Ya I'll need to try to wait a little longer, the most I've waited was like 2 minutes lol. Thanks for remind me this!

I am an idiot... For all these time I thought it was my USB drives problem... I found out that all I had to do was to move the idrive screen all the way to the left to see the option and etc.
