Are 235's on 8.5 and 265 on 9.5 going to fully protect the rim
Hi all, sorry I know this is a pain, but I need to confirm 100% that the above tyre size will be the right size for my rims before I place the order tomorrow as I gotta spend a load more dosh....
Rims are Front 8.5 x 19 ET 33 going to get 235/35/19 Rear 9.5 x 19 ET 37 going to get 265/30/19 I don't want any stretch I want the tyres to fit 100 % to protect the rims as much as they can. Having spent £800 on new rims, fitting wrong tyres then damaging two which need replacing and getting full set of new non run flats it will stand me in £1800 in the last 3 weeks or so, as you can imagine I am a little bit twitchy.... Also getting that look and comment(from her in doors) - Are you sure these are going to be right don't help.... Please feel free to take the p.ss, but serious comments and advice would be appreciated... Cheers |

I have the same set up not sure about the offsets and the tyres fit nicely, as for rim protection tyres have differing amount of rim protection. not sure you can get runflats in those sizes but value for money I can recommend goodyear F1's

I'm in the same dilemma re wheels tyres from the info you've posted up you'll be fine re tyres as stated different tyre manufacturers go about things in a different way for instance I came off Pilot Sport tyres to Continue Sport Contact 3's and more recietly 5's as the tyre for me has a fine rim protector plus shoulders are nice'n' straight if you follow me.
If you look at the depth of the rim protector below of the Conti Sport Contact 5 it's about as good as I've seen to protect your rims. |

Thanks Steve, I see exactly what you mean, that is what I want, will look into the price of the Conti's against the Goodyear... Really appreciate that pic mate...
It's very frustrating as if I would have just gone with info on here rather than listen to people selling the wheels, I would not be in this position.. Another life lesson!!! Lol |

To be fair, I wanted to keep my RFT's 225/255 so was sold wheels to take run flats... But no one said you can't get RFT's in the 235/265 combo that I would have switched to in due course.. So gonna take it on the chin....
Thing is when I heard about tire stretch I did not understand the implications, my work trousers cope with stretch every Monday morning so thought they would be ok... |

But seriously though they are by far the best tyre solution re rim protectors I've seen(though there could be others out there that could be as good maybe even better) but I've used Conti tyres fir 5 years now been happy overall with how they perform and if you look at reviews overall they seem to tick the desired boxes. If you look at the above picture and zoom in on the front wheel of my old 330d I'm running a genuine BBS CH 8.5 rim on 235 Conti's and the rim protectors more then adequate. |
