Those issues may be due to the crappy rice boys driving far too many fine Evos. Had one driving next to me the other day that was nice and riced out (fart can, pillar guages, some random tacky body mods) that looked like he jammed the e-brake every time he shifted. I was thinking

As far as I know, that evo X had launch control issue, where the rpm wouldn't go high enough for a good launch. As a result, the car bogged off the line bad, hence the low ET.
Evo X has better potential than even the already solid IX's. With bolt ons and minor adjustment without the tune, it's already at ~370whp. As far as the launching an AWD goes, anyone who thinks its as easy as raising rpm to 6500 then dropping clutch is a complete idiot. Not only clutch won't survive if you do that, if you put a stronger clutch in there, the drive train will be destroyed. AWD is only good on the hands of the right driver. And FYI, bone stock EVO IX does 12.9. Evo X is no slouch by any means. P.S. I also have A-pillar gauges because its easy to see. Does that make me a ricer too?

P.S. I get the feeling the IX is a superior car to the X on the drag strip but the X will win on a road course. New drivetrain doesn't do jack for straight lines but make it slower with added weight. Ditto for the gearbox. (Dunno what it's shift time is)

I just find it absolutley hilarious that once the evo X came out he virtually disappeared from this forum...makes a few posts here and there just to keep you guys happy. Hes just a businessman....I havent seen any real hardcore support from him like a real tuner. |

Incorrect.
Less R&D means cheaper parts. Not cheaper car means cheaper R&D. The price of the car plays a much smaller role than the amount of R&D required.

He is testing 2.1 on customer cars (his, mine, and an automatic) with different levels of mods (mine is otherwise stock)... You can feel free to dislike him but he isn't working on the Evo X right now, I am driving it, it's fun. Do people tell you to only work on their account at your business...? I think it is his right to work on whatever he wants to, he has set every performance standard for the 335i tuning, don't be greedy, it's still getting better Here it is

i was expecting better times? but i guess the damn rev limit/launch limiter is what is taken some away. shiv what kind of exhaust? full, DP back?
also do those new wheel setup help with grip, fWIW to compare, a tuned 335i with better grip and exhaust can easily out run that thing then haha, for some comparsion fun anyways. btw shiv, congrats on another step into the automotive testing giants |

Bone stock evo 9 does 12.9???? I thought it was more like mid to high 13's. don't evo's lose juice at higher speeds b/c of gearing? I can run 14seconds flat but from like a 50mph roll its pretty much dead even til 100 with the evo.

Wrong again buddy... When you compare a $30k car to a $60k car all of the parts are going to be cheaper for the less expensive car... From the chip to the intake to the Exhaust... I dont see manufacturers selling $6000titanium exhausts to the civic community... How much are headers for a mustang compared to an M5? Only like a $5000 difference right...

More than a handful of people have hit 12.9's, BONE STOCK. I believe the best ET is 12.8x.

So Basically what was said is..........
The Evo has a lower inital investment cost,,, ie it cost less than the bmw. So of course it has to come with a lower cost for the upgrade. Of which they have been working on for 2 yrs now,,, just trying to get it right. Well you got one thing correct........ You can and do charge more for the BMW cause it has a Greater investment cost,,,,,,,ie, They can handle the extra cost cause they can afford a Bimmer. No biggie,. Along with the years and years of on going developemnt time. Ie Beta testers! Well played guys,, well played. |

Lower cost vehicle + less R&D for an easier to work with ECU = cheaper product.
what don't you understand? I see nothing wrong with this at all. Quote:
