dinan deleted!?

I wish there was a simple way to tell if my dinan mod was on or not. I have 2 questions...

1- if service connects the car and doesnt update it... but just diagnostic use- is the mod shown? and, if shown.... what should it say?

2- is it deleted and re-stocked If it is just a diagnostic check?

They can tell be just looking at calibration number. It just doesn't get deleted. Usually overwritten by another updateD calibration.

I have to ask the obvious question....is it not different enough from stock that just driving the car doesnt give you the answer?

you'd think that it would be - but weather conditions here are limiting my capacity to really push the car. additionally, I've had issues with this current service place as of recently - I'd hope that they wouldn't maliciously downgrade my car's performance knowing that I'd have to drive an hour and a half to have it replaced. but, hey - thanks for the obvious response.

If you dont trust your nearest Dinan BMW dealer goto another Dinan dealer to have the flash verified. All Dinan reflash is free per Dinan website.

I have heard issues like this before, where they updated the ECU that overwrote the Dinan flash.

Dinan delete

The best way to tell if you have the Dinan software or not is to install a boost meter on the car. They are available from few sources, look at the Roundel adds. If the boost is over 12-13 psi at hard push, your mode is there. If the maximum boost measured is about 8-9 psi, than you are running the stock software.

^ The logical and cheap way to go, and you have a tool that would benefit you in the future also. As a matter of fact I am going to get one myself, never thought about getting one as I can tell if they short changed me on my car.

@OP what Dinan stage do you have ?

Maybe these tunes should add a blinking indicator on the dash somewhere so you would always know it's there, giving you a massive power boost.

Your right foot mashing the gas pedal should tell you if you have dinan or not... If not then you have one expensive placebo.

when your loaner sports the n55 engine vs my 54, auto vs my stick, respectively... there exist enough variables with the drivability stock such that paranoia kicks in a bit.

I had some work done a couple of times at a large dinan dealer in the mid-atlantic. I waited while they did the work. No less that 4 people came in to check it the tune was still loaded. I even talked to one guy about getting a boost gauge, but all of these people were the type that would not even change their own oil.

Boost gauge and one on-ramp would show anyone if they are boosting over stock.

if you have Dinan, you can go all the way to 7,200 RPM before the ECU cuts throttle.

without Dinan, ECU will cut throttle at 7,000 RPM.
