Call me simple, but I enjoy my 700hp 335i (soon to be more) with suspension upgrades and drag radials. I don't get why all my buddies with M3s want to drive it, since it's so inferior.

again going back to all the comments about integras and civics having 700hp too...would u drive those too? if you wanted hp why not get something like a gt 5.0 or something and it would have cost much less to get to where you are.

hell even a buddy of mine has an s2000 he bought used for like 10k and put in about 10k with custom 6466 turbo and pushing 750whp...thats including all suspension engine everything...u spent more than 10k just on the turbos.

hell ive spent over 20k just in all my parts and i dont even have upgraded turbos lol.

So you think a 335 is the same as an Integra, Civic, or 5.0?

I like the body style and look of the 3 series, so my only options were a 328, 335 or M3. Which one can get to 700hp (and more)? That's the one I picked. I had the option to pick any of the 3, even considered SC'ing a M3. Problem is it couldn't get me to where I wanted. It was never about having "any" car that has 700hp. There are plenty of cheaper options that could've got me there. It was about getting a car that I enjoy driving every day, that also has 700hp. Plus 700+hp s2000, integras, and civics are dime a dozen. I wanted something a little unique to that realm. Is the M3 an overall better car than a 335 in stock form, no doubt. I'd expect it to be. But the cars are very different once you go beyond stock, each with their own strengths.

While I really enjoy reading the pure enthusiasm of all you folks - really makes my car feel a bit more special (which I think it already is).
We do have to come back to reality - the M3 is a superior car. I dream about someday owning one - possibly an e93. I've read watched and re-read rewatched every review I could find on them. The consensus is - it's truly a fantastic car. Most reviewers and auto journalists (that review many cars including lambo's and ferrari's, when it comes to M3s - usually fall in love with it. A comment repeated on many reviews in many languages is this: " I want this car, I would gladly buy it - I want this exact car and I feel that it was made for me".
The strange thing is when these same people review a Ferrari, a Bugatti or a Porsche - they rank it very high but they don't fall in love, they don't say I want it!

It may just be me, but I don't agree that HP or engine alone makes a great car, a good one maybe but not a great one.(and the N54 is a great piece of engineering maybe even better than the S65) - but judging the car as a whole, the look, feel, sound - I don't think it's a fair comparison. The mighty M3 wins hands down.
Sorry for the long winded post.

With all that being said, why do you think Berk, HP, and Evolution Racewerks all chose N54s for their racecars instead of S65s? All the suspension parts are swappable, the N54 is more potent than the V8 AND works better on the track...

Don't get me wrong I love M3s, but I have never met an M3 on the track that can keep up with Blu (except Ricky because he drives like a fucking maniac, lol).

1)My name is rickey and I drive a m3 too lol
2) I love your car seriously I want your car in the worst way
3) I think the s65 is a joke the n54 is a better engine but there's a lot more to a car than the engine. The m3 is just an all around better package
4) yes suspension parts are interchangeable, but you don't see m3's putting on 335 parts but you do see 335 with m3 UPGRADES.

I'll join.

You know where these discussions go? Nowhere, we all buy cars and mod them in our own way to enjoy them how we want to enjoy them.

There is no right or wrong way. Sure there are pros and cons but at the end of the day, it's what you want.

Some people want to turn their civic into a 10 second car the more power to em. Some people cut to the chase and get a GTR or ZR1. Others meet someone where in the middle.

If the question is can you mod a 335i to be better then a stock M3 the answer is yes. If the question is can you mod an M3 to be faster then a modded 335i the answer is Yes.

If the question is power per dollar there is always a different way to go about it.

Who has the biggest wallet will win!

My favorite BMW's are E30, E36 and E46. I bought a 335i cause I just needed something newer and didn't want to dump some money into an older car at the time. Previous to that I was game on turning your typical cracker jack toy into something fast. Nowadays I find myself starting with a platform a little more practical in the realm of making big power. (Something fast out of the box). I dont know what the next car will be. I always tell myself I can't start with something slower then what I last had. Doesn't leave too many inexpensive options out of the box.

Ok - I just talked myself into it, the search for an M3 begins now. All I have to do is convince the wife that a 10-15k investment on top of my car will save our marriage and keep the family happy. I would gladly own an E90 or an E92 but the family enjoys having a convertible as much as me so it's mostly (cough) for them too....

A convertible?

Besides the extra weight, the noises and leak issues common with the retractable hardtop make a coupe or sedan an easy choice for me.

I actually had an E90 M3 a few years back, for what it's worth. While a very nice car, I always felt my previous 335i was more fun on the street -- and just as fast in most situations. The gas mileage in my M3 was also pretty horrible, and the ~3500 rpm freeway cruising in 6th gear always bothered me.

If you prefer older cars, why do you "need" newer? Just curious.

To the topic..the body is the same e9x. An enthusiast just pics the suspension and engine he prefers Both engines can be tuned powerful enough for the body. So it is one car with some minor individual variations selected by the owners.

OP - no. Just no.

I love my 335 more than any other car I've owned.

That said, I'd trade it in a heartbeat if I could swing an e92 m3.

Again, no. No 3 series will ever be better than the M version.

I'm surprised how nobody has mentioned how much more presence an M3 has over a 335i. Every time I see an e92 M3, I aspire. Every time I see a 335i, every day, it feels normal
