And btw, the store is NOT a small business. Our store alone makes over 30k in pure profit per day. There are currently two other locations in Maryland and NY with a 4th coming soon in chicago. The now 5 owners all make millions per year mainly because the store is on a reality show called DC cupcakes.

go get a paid internship or something mechanically related that will gain you some real tangible experience.

How are you going to look when you start work after college for a reputable company as an engineer and on your resume it shows top chef at "Georgetown Cupcakes"?

While I understand a job is a job, and provides a source of income, if you were smart, which i'm sure you are being a ME major, i'd expect more.

One last thing (as others have pointed out),

Since your avatar says you drive a BMW 335i, if you are strapped for cash, need money for college tuition, what are you doing driving a BMW? Sell it, get a beater, use it to pay for tuition.

What would you like me to say? Clearly you all are just concerned about demoralizing me. The 335i was a gift from my parents and if my parents made the decision to sell the car, I would be 100% understanding.

I made this thread just to get some feedback on the issue. Not to be attacked. If a Mod is reading this, please delete this thread.

I would have taken A. free education, B. scooter and C. free cupcakes instead of the 335i.

What? Ok so lets do the math.

I looked at the website, and a cupcake is $2.75. Lets make it $3.00 to be even. That means you would have to sell 10,000 cup cakes each day at 1 store. I highly doubt that, especially for the small staff per store. The store itself isn't that big, at all. And when you say profit, I hope you are taking away overhead/operating costs, salaries, etc.

yes I've done the math and seen the revenue from the end of day receipts. Daily revenues from the in-store registers range from 25-35k depending on the day. That also doesn't take into account the online and phone orders. You'd be surprised how much people spend on cupcakes for weddings and parties. I myself have fulfilled $3000 wedding orders. Everyday the store can make 40-45k easy.

30k profit, 40-45k sales revenue.

@blayne, I know that seems like a lot, but if you saw the kitchen you'd probably think otherwise. There is a baking staff of about 20 and the kitchen is actually 24 hours. They spend about 4 hours cleaning every night, and then start baking again for the preorders.
