Help is this corrosion ?

Guys I was looking at my wheels the other day and noticed the following

- A lot of what I think is corrosion around the centre caps

( at first I thought it's diet but upon further inspection it's not so)

With the flash it shows up as dirt but when I try clean it I can get it to budge so my guess is it's corrosion ?

???

Present on all four wheels ?

Most probably, yes. Unfortunately, it's quite common with diamond-cut finishes on wheels; the only real workaround is to keep them clean and topped up with wax or sealant.

you need to wash these wheels weekly if you leave brake dust on they will corrode quickly there are a number of wheel sealants around that will not prevent this entirely but will help

Its all in the groove where a normal wash with mitt/sponge wouldn't catch it, so its built up over time and corroded.

Its a constant battle with diamond cut faces and only a matter of time WHEN they corrode not IF

Yeah they're well past it - l'll do you a favour and take them off your hands for £100

Joking aside, it looks like a refurb or paint will be the only solution here. You could enquire about corrosion warranty (I'm not sure wheels are covered though).

The place that refurbed my wheels said they dont give any warranty or guarantee with diamond cut wheels simply because of how often they corrode!
They give a 6 month life span before they start going bad.
Personally Id get them painted

If you do get them changed, they will only corrode again. Get them painted a dark silver. There are now a lot of AUC cars on the BMW site that have had them painted.
