OEM E92 Lip - ballpark cost to paint?
It's been a minute since I've been in for paint work. Just wanted to get a ballpark on what people have paid to have their E92 OEM front lip painted (not installed).
There is a VERY VERY reputable collision center here in Marietta (Magnum - they are certified to do Ferraris, Lambos, etc...) so I know they will match the white correctly, but I don't know at what premium yet. Just want to get an idea so I can walk away immediately if it is outrageous. Thanks, Daniel |

it should cost about 125-150 to do the front aero lip at a decent body shop.
The place you mentioned might charge upwards of 300-400. Thats how it is here in socal. If its a certified shop that does high end cars, they charge and arm and a leg.

Thanks for all of the replies. I just got the estimate back from Magnum. I'd hoped to pay a hair less in general, but it looks like a good price considering their immaculate reputation:
Parts 3.00 Body Labor 0.3 hrs @ $ 40.00/hr = 12.00 Paint Labor 2.4 hrs @ $ 40.00/hr = 96.00 Paint Supplies 2.4 hrs @ $ 28.00/hr = 67.20 ----------------------------------------------------SUBTOTAL$ 178.20 Sales Tax $70.20 @ 6.0000 % = 4.21 --------------------------------------------------- GRAND TOTAL = $182.41 |

Picked my OEM lip up today for $310 out the door, dropped it off at Magnum. There was a Ferrari or two in the front lot along with a wicked Murcielago roadster painted baby blue. Should have it finished on Friday.

Did you get the lip from the dealership? Anyone know where we can get the OEM lip for less?

Got it from United of Roswell. I quoted Tischer's price with shipping and he beat it. Then I went to pick it up and it was out of stock so he dropped the price a little more. A couple of other dealerships never even responded to me. My goal was to get close to Tischer's price without having to pay for shipping.

Tischer BMW does it for $160, why not use them? (Though I'm still waiting (2 weeks now) for my lip, I hope to get it next week.)

Here's what Tischer has on their site: $285 unpainted, before shipping. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 That would suck for me if they now had it for 160 but with shipping it would have been not that far from what I paid locally I guess. |

$310 local dealer (tax included) $182.41 paint at best shop in the state (tax included) $0 shipping cost -------- $492.41 total It's about $515 shipped from Tischer with the non-groupbuy paint charge ($285+$70+$160). So the price difference isn't huge but that almost bought me those grilles plus I can drive down the road and complain if there are any paint issues that crop up on the lip later. |

Already got the lip back from Magnum today. Just dropped it off yesterday around noon. Wow! (estimate was spot-on too)
Got the 3M tape as well from Advance. I'm going to slap this puppy on when I get home from work. Look what I saw while I was there (just a taste, there was a non-roadster next to the Maserati and an Alpina 7 series out of the frame): |

Installed. Used the windex and 3M method. Don't use too much windex. One squirt from a foot or two so that the fine mist hits each piece of tape is enough. Already happier with the car. Black 328i grilles come in tomorrow
