NEW Valentine 1 Software Update Junk- K Fighter

Hey everybody, just curious on your thoughts on the Junk-K fighter. is it worth it? I read that some people believe it delays the reaction time of the V1, which would not be good.

I know lots of people on this forum that run V1's. Here's my situation: in the last 5-7 years I've only seen one city cop shooting a hand held K band radar gun. 99.9% of the time I encounter Ka (34.7 or 35.5) so I have turned off K band on my V1. When summer rolls around I may turn it on again because that city cop was shooting out an open window during the summer and I'm playing the odds that I won't see him again till the weather is nicer.

From V1:

"Battling false alarms: V1's new Junk-K Fighter
Here's the problem: K-band false alarms--which were merely nuisances back when automatic store-door openers were the most common source--have recently become major-league irritants, both in their frequency and their persistence.

What changed? A safety feature that's becoming common on new cars--the lane-change, or blind-spot, warning systems--often use weak K-band radar to "see" other vehicles nearby.

The door-opener problem was self-limiting--it was stationary and you soon drove out of range. But you may be driving in a pack with a blind-spot system, and you're stuck there for miles, not knowing which is the offending car so you don't know which one to maneuver away from.

V1 responds. If your V1's serial number ends in 1179 or higher, you already have our best solution built into your detector. It's a software revision we call the Junk-K Fighter, created to exclude mobile sources of unthreatening K signals. You need only to activate it.

For older V1s, the Junk-K Fighter is included in our latest upgrade at
Upgrades

How to activate this feature. The Junk-K Fighter is paired with another software feature, Traffic Monitor Filter, and they both turn on with the same software switch.

I may activate this just to play around..

I paid the $78 to get mine upgraded.
I missed the cutoff as my serial number was about 70 too low to have it from the factory.
I've had it a few years and the upgrade gives you a new serial number and new warranty.

I have a 5 yr old v1, on the upgrade, do they replace the whole model or just update software/internal hardware?

I'm wondering why they cannot allow advance users to download and update the firmware themselves. It's not that hard anyway. As long as it's just a firmware update.

I'd also love an option to order the hardware upgrade myself (minus warranty as it's a DIY) option.
