Going on trip soon...

I am going on a 1k mile trip soon and had a question about tires. I have upgraded to non-runflat 19" rims/tires and since my car came with run flats there is no spare.

What do I do if while I am out of town I get a flat? Would BMW Service take me back home and my car to the dealership? Anything I can do to prepare ahead of time? I have about two weeks until I leave.

The off road service will help you still but that depends on where your flat is. You got consider how they are going to tow your car. The run flats can run an extra 100 while flat so there you have it. Avoid driving of the edge of the road and cutting people off at on ramps and off ramps, that is where all the possible dangers are...

well i've gotten into trouble on the highway before and i called BMW roadside service... they took a while to come but my car got towed to a nearby dealership and the flat was fixed.

Slime kit and a couple of days because it's going to take as much time to find a new non-rft tire in your 19" size as it would've the OEM RFT's.

Do you have an inflation kit like this?? http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...tkit/index.jsp

That will cover most flat tire situations and get you to a local shop to get the tire fixed or replaced.

Buy some SLIME and a tire compressor. Mine has been patched for 2 months now, I even auto-x with the tire like that with no problems. Got me home 100 miles away and I didn't have to dash out 200+ dollars to get a new tire...

...did I mention that no spare is just stupid...

I have way more faith in a plug kit than slime. It takes a little longer but tends to be more durable and doesn't gunk up your TPMS sensors.

This is the hardcore version:

Either way you'll need a jack and wrench, and plugging in the dark and/or rain would kinda suck.

yeah i have the Continental kit and a plug kit with jack... i would obviously prefer to plug the tire but i have both just in case im ever caught in a situation where jack the car and taking the time to plug the tire is not feasible.

I also have 19 inc M wheels on my 325I, I got the air pump from a previous MB, bought a tire plug kit and a can of fixed flat tire. planning to get the jack set.
