Because it's online and the car enthusiasts community tends to like a design that is further back in years like the E30/E46 than current gen cars. Those of you who think we are the majority are way off in your assumption.

For a car that is catered to the masses it might do okay. Guess we will see.

It's been labelled a 6 because the even numbers are coupes , come on it's not that hard to work out.

It's playing that's it's a coupe, 6GC has gone so rebrand the 5 GT as the 6 GT. simple and good marketing by BMW

I would not go a second far as that...

Certainly not if you want to continue pretending your brand is actually focused on the joy of driving and making cars aimed at a sportier clientele.

...

And BMW? Focuses on eletrical armchairs like the i3, sells the i8 as if it was a sportswear and pretends "M" has anything to do with motorsports whereas it has for the most part degenerated into a marketing tool to option up mass-produced every day cars.
There is some real justified frustration there but I think maybe you condem them beyond what is fair.

They do care about thier heritage as is seen by thier consistent raft concept cars that reinterpret past glory into the modern era and detractors aside the general consensus is joy and genuine enthusiasm by automotive fans and customers alike.

What mystifies me (and others I suspect) is why they show us amazing sizzling things and then slap us with cold utilitarian products that although provide great substance cover vast segments, miss the heartbeat jumping cars thier loyal fan base carves.

M1 heritage, Vision Luxury, CSL concept and 2002 hommage concept and others (http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/di...ncept-cars.htm) are mouth-watering propositions that would have seriously changed the perception of BMW regardless of other models in the line up. Many of us would be satisfied if one would make it into the modern range.

As for M and i; they are great and leaders in their respective segments but need a bit more sparkle to reach thier true best potential.

Either way, despite all the internet hate it looks a lot like an A7, which I think people would actually see if not for the blinding hatred for any BMW with GT in the name coupled with their lust for the (admittedly gorgeous but much more expensive and less practical) 6GC. And unlike the outgoing 6GC it's also priced like an A7, offers similar practicality to an A7, and posts similar performance numbers to an A7. And whether we want to admit it or not, people like A7's, it's generally considered the bellcow of the segment. Here is a review of the A7 3.0T Competition along with photos of one in white, so it can be compared pretty easily to the white 640GT M Sport in the video/photos.

http://www.automobilemag.com/news/20...-drive-review/

So, other than the naming, I think BMW got this one right. Whether or not the naming gets in the way of it being successful, we'll see. Hopefully not.
take this from someone who owns a 5GT, and a very popular one at that (which sounds like an oxymoron).

It looks like an A7, that's been eating far too much.

The bloated body and raised ride height are not a good combo. Say all you want about commanding view, but I repeat, buy an SUV then.

And I agree. Adding a +1 to the name was the stupidest move of them all.

Well, there are two ways to look at this 6GT.
You can look at what it brings to the table, and how it look less f***** than the original 5GT.
Itīs not a E46 by any means, but itīs number (6GT) makes sense in view of itīs origin and position.
Or you can trash it to death as most of you guys does.
Itīs easy, if you donīt like it, donīt buy it. The original was ugly as sin, the 6GT looks not half the F13 was, but itīs so much better than the 5GT, the numbers will reflect this fact.

Respectfully, if people compliment you on your GT that's great. It's not my cup of tea personally, but to each his/her own. It would certainly take a lot less effort to beautify the 6GT than it took to do so to the 5GT. I notice you lowered yours, which reduces the visual mass somewhat. The 6GT is already about an inch lower in overall height than the 5GT, and with the optional suspension can be lowered another almost half inch from there, so combined with the extra four inches in length I don't think it's going to look as stubby and bulbous as the 5GT. I'll wait until I see it in person to judge it but based on the photos and recent video I actually think it looks pretty good, and that's coming from someone who never once in the six years it existed thought that about the 5GT.

Like i've written before, the 6GT is an improvement from the 5GT in a few ways. However, gone is the deep body creases that could be worked with to tone the body, and replaced with rather flat body lines (reminiscent to the A/S/RS7).

When I did the matte black wrap, the body lines became far more accentuated. Paired with the coilovers I have (far lower than what most GT owners would ever be okay with), the visual bloat has definitely been reduced. Note the picture - IMHO (I may be biased ) the uglier 5GT looks as sleek, if not a tad sleeker than the new 6GT.

The new GT would definitely be more so a looker in a darker color and with some modifications. All I'm saying is that it shouldn't need modifications to look good. The GranCoupe didn't. Most people would never modify their cars like I have mine.

As probably one of the very few who've taken one of BMW's most disliked models and turned it into a show car, I can point out more flaws in the GT than one would notice at first. However, I could also point out the few things BMW did right with the car. And that's why I say, BMW didn't focus on making it better, just less worse.

So a 1992 325is is an odd or even number ? What about 3.0cs coupe or sedan ? E30 M3 odd or even ? What is an x4 anyhow besides uglier than an Pontiac Aztek ?

What came first the 2 door coupe or the sedan ? Define a saloon etc

It's new school design function and thinking outside of the classic portrait or silhouette of what we all grew up on as bmws of favor.

It's form follows function. Bahaus 101
And

I am
Respectfully asking of course

Doesn't drive like one I assure you.
No matter how many "cues" Honda takes from BMW it will never drive like one feel like one or be safe like one.

Cmon this is nearly 11 pages now of hate

You do know you can reply to multiple posts in one post right? Just select multiple quotes. It will also help reduce clouding up the thread.

It's a fact that black hides visual weight while white accentuates it.

P.S. I don't understand the turtle picture :

Along with several other products from Honda right now.

Honda Civic hatch
Accord sport cross
Ridgeline truck

EDIT: it appears that Honda dropped the ugly wagon Sport Acccord Sport Cross and moved it to the Civic lineup..
so.. they have the same issues finding a spot fot their ugly duckling as well.

Here's another angle then.

Again, some aspects are better over the current F07 (e.g. the rear end), but still not a significant improvement.
