I have the latest firmware from BMW last month, dp and the 02=100%. I assume this update will save me on fuel and 02 deterioration?

Shiv - If for any reason you need to undo the DIY, does it matter which of the two male ends goes where for o2 sim purposes?

You can tell that it's unused by looking at the factory connector that it mates with. If a pin on the factory wire is empty, the corresponding patch wire in the v4 harness is unused. I in the picture below we removed two unused wires the red patch loom. Although you can take wires from any patch loom. Even in the same yellow patch loom. Just make sure it is unused!

Shiv, or anyone else who's done this, could you please point out some of the red wires you used? Like maybe give me the pin numbers on the slots or something as a starting point?

Or is it really that easy and idiot proof to pick the right empty ones?

It's pretty easy to identify the unused pins when you look at the factory connectors. For the record, I did take two wires out of the red loom.

Yes pretty idiot proof :-) just pick 2 red wires that do not have a connection to the oem harness. I was a bit concerned as well but spotted them straight away.

I have the Procede off the car now. It would be helpful if this could be shown so I can do this now before I install...

Yeah even now if you order the procede and get V4 the harness has the update. From now on ALL procede have this harness update. V4 or V5 has nothing to do with it. The change can be done to all harnesses so no issues at all...
