Did I screw something up?

I was on a steep hill and didnt realized I was on D. Instead of putting it in neutral I accidentally let the car roll down on D. It rolled down for like 5 seconds and all of a sudden shuttered same feeling as stalling in a standard. The car also shut off, started it back and everything was fine. Just wondering if I messed up my trannny in any way. Sorry this is my first auto car...

So you were on a hill, in D, and the car rolled backwards and then stalled?

Correct. I usually put it in reverse but I wasnt paying attention and left it on D. It reverse while in D and then stalled.

You may want to start putting it in (P) park.

No, you did not mess anything up. The transmission caused the car to stall but shouldn't have caused any damage.

+1 Yeah, probably the same as stalling a manual, no biggie, just don't do it often
