Blinking Clown Nose w/o Alarm
With previous BMW models there was apparently a way to activate the clown nose (blinking light when car is locked) without installing an alarm system. I have been searching on the entire e90post board, but I couldn't find a the answer I was looking for.
Is there a way to re-program the system or is there a hardware based solution that would give me a blinking clown nose when car is locked?

IIUC, Montreal Bimmer claims that he has no alarm on his car, but can still get the clown nose to blink, as if he had paid for an alarm, and didn't torture himself with a DIY activity. Is there something else you aren't telling us?
Is anyone else this lucky? Maybe there is a glitch in the system? |

montreal_bimmer, did someone (the dealership?) actually program it for you? BTW: I am talking about the built-in red LED light underneath the rear view mirror which looks like a clown nose or "nez de clown" - I am NOT talking about the flashing hazard lights. thanks for clarifying ..

montreal_bimmer, if your clown nose binks and you didn't DIY the alarm install, then your car DOES have alarm

Unless you have the alarm or the "hack" around your clown nose won't blink. You will need the ultrasonic module installed in the rear overhead light compartment. It comes as part of the OEM alarm kit. Don't know if it can be purchased on its is own. The part # is 65 75 6 963 651.
