Tuf Shine - Not Happy...

I was able to try this product for the first time since the temps are up in the 70's today. In any event, after cleaning the tires with their tire cleaner and brush, drying the tires, I applied Tuf Shine...

Well, it looked great after I first applied it and it dried to the touch as advertised. However, after I drove for a couple of miles I got out of my car and noticed that the Tuf Shine shine had cracked up around every tire and it made my tires look like garbage. A $40 Christmas present from my wife, that turned into money down the drain. I had high hopes for this product based on the reviews, very disappointed.

Now I need to see if I can get this stuff off my tires so I can put my go-to tire shine back on, Adam's VRT.

I contacted Detail Image about my experience and to see what can be worked out.

any pictures?

I haven't had an opportunity to try it since I purchased it, but I plan to soon. I haven't heard of any bad experiences except when folks didn't get the tire really clean and rid of all leftover silicone based tire shine.

How do you like the Adams products? Been sticking to dodo juice and the far less expensive chemical guys.

Sorry no pictures, guess that would have been helpful. I cleaned it off my tires already.

I really like Adam's VRT. I like the cream products over the more watery products. A little VRT goes a long way.

I exchanged a couple of e-mails with Greg at Detailed Image and he seems to think that maybe I didn't clean the tires good enough. I agreed to give it another shot and follow up with Greg. He was great, very responsive and understanding. We shall see.

Use it on all my cars. Never had a problem with the Tuff stuff. I put a refresh coat on it every couple of months and I am good to go.

Did it sling because you put on too much?
I personally love the Poorboy's Bold N Bright tire dressing (water based).

Greg is great guy to deal with. I uave had orders destroyed by the postal service and he has replaced the orders with no problem. I would definitely give it another try. Not sure what your using (tire brush wise) but i always use the brushes that are used to clean bath tubs. Maybe try a different brush for xleaing your tires.

yep!

You need to clean the tire VERY thoroughly...like a few rounds of rinse, de-grease, rinse, dry. The tires need to be free of any old dressings, road grime, etc. Also, they need to be thoroughly dried! Its all in the prep!

I would give it another go, with multiple cleanings! Then coat, dry, DRIVE happily!
