Blue/"Purple"/Red

Purple in quotes because I think it looks more dark blue if anything.

I think he's looking for the actual names/color codes that he could specify...if I was looking for such a thing I would want very specific color names.

If you want to color match, any printer with a chromometer will be able to duplicate those colors. Even if you had the names of the colors (try contacting BMW NA), they might be proprietary. Maybe if you tell us what your intended purpose is, we might be able to guide you in the right direction.

The Blue represents the "bavarian sky" and the red represents the Fire or passion of racing and the purple is the two combined.

red + blue = purple

race car + street car = M car

My guess is he is painting or printing something

Just google it. Here is what I found:

Quote:
The BMW Motorsport colors are:

Mugelo Red, Avus Blue and Daytona Violet.

For the graphic artists:

Blue: Pantone process blue
Purple: Pantone 268
Red: Pantone warm red

From winding road:http://news.windingroad.com/body-sty...-sedan-photos/

The two front side panels boast a special sign of distinction characteristic of a BMW M Car and referred to by the designers as “gills,” which incorporate the tri-color (blue/purple/red M3) logo.

according to a post on Bimmerfest.com (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho....php?p=3008367):

"The BMW Motorsport colors are:

Mugelo Red, Avus Blue and Daytona Violet.

For the graphic artists:

Blue: Pantone process blue
Purple: Pantone 268
Red: Pantone warm red

Red represented Texaco who had partnered with BMW during the early days of M racing, blue represented BMW (and Bavaria) and the purple was used to represent the partnership and to allow for a nice transition between the two colors. (Once the BMW/Texaco partnership ended, BMW had to buyout Texaco for the rights to the red.)"

(i didn't see JackMac's post)

Careful though using these pantone colors...they are OK for computer generated graphics but when you apply them to different substrates, you will get a shade that you may not think you want. Believe me, I've had rejections from customers that were very adamant about PMS colors I should use and when the final product was delivered, they said, that's not what I wanted.

i get where you are coming from, but bmw does offer m packages on non m cars, like my zhp had the m steering wheel, rims and m shifter, so thats why i think its ok to do it. im not a poser though.

i realize that, but thats different imo. I have various m3 parts (spoiler, steering wheel/cover, zhp knob, footrest) on my 335, but they all offer some advantage over the non-M parts they replace. Things like m3 license plates and M-colored vinyl stickers serve no function other than associating your non-M car with the M division.

but its your car. do what you like, not what other people like.
