330d m57 gutted DPF

Has anyone a gutted DPF fitted, is louder than a replacement pipe due to it being empty?

For me I'd get a straight pipe due to bad resonances of camber it's a bulge for a reason to increase surface area when dpf medium is fitted, won't be the best for performance but likely not a lot in it.

Whistle with my dpf delete small increase in noise more throaty on my 335d I like it.

I have a gutted DPF too and the difference is barely noticeable, very slightly louder at idle, you won't realise unless your actively listening

Also don't forget that the MOT is a visual check so if you don't have the old DPF housing then it would be a fail.

i have a straight pipe in place, the MOT man put down "plastics obscuring proper inspection" or something like that. which i presume means he was giving me a pass on the de-cat.

this wasn't a "friendly" MOT place either, I had never used them before and needed an MOT ASAP (forgot about it!)

Thanks for your replies, I already have an ecotune pipe fitted and was thinking of fitting the gutted dpf as I will be selling the car next year.

Aren't they covered as standard? I'm not sure what mine looks like from underneath but if it was ever a problem I'd just put a shield over it for MOT purposes.

yea there is a plastic under tray, but if you are looking for it, its not very hard to see up at the down pipe.
