Problem: n55 no power, building 0 boost. No codes! Help!

Hey

My n55 2011 335i is currently making no boost. The jb4 module is showing that there is less than 1-2lbs of boost being made. No error codes are thrown.

I looked around the charge pipe area, specifically around the areas that would usually crack, and didn't find any fault. I event went so far to pour water over the parts to see if any air bubbles came out.

Does anyone have a hunch on what the issue may be?

The only part of the intake/exhaust system that I hvae modified is a Helix FMIC. I checked all connections and they all seemed to be on tight.

EDIT: Codes thrown
Shows up as 2 12 5 7 with half engine light
Then a few minutes later, another code
2 12 9 0

Translates to 2C57
Charge-Air Pressure Control,, Lower Value: Boost Pressure too low. The diagnostic function monitors the pressure measured by the boost-pressure sensor

and 2C90
Blow off valve, mechanics, jammed closed.

You mean that you charged your system up to at least 20psi and used soapy water with a squirt bottle to check for bubbles?

Nope! I will go in for some professional help on Monday.

I hope the problem is my charge pipe. That's a real easy fix considering I ordered the ER one during black friday sales.

I squeezed the whole charge pipe looking for places where it may have cracked. It must be underneath where I can't see it. I'll know when I take off the charge pipe next week when I get the ER chargepipe. Luck would have it, I ordered that chargepipe during the Black Friday sale. It's almost like I knew mine was going to break.

Also check all the Fmic connections to make sure none of the clamps have moved.

two places to look -
1st place is where u mention'd - chargepipe.
2nd place - other side of the FMIC - hot side (passenger side pipe to turbo)
another member mentioned he had a hairline crack and needed to replace.

honestly, I'm think'n of replacing that side with a straight ss pipe instead of
the oem plastic b.s. Might be a bitch to get to but maybe worth it for peace of mind

Frankie. What's the easiest way to check that? I know how to check the charge pipe, but the other side doesn't seem so easy.

whoever install'd ur fmic - go back to them and
ask them to check for u - that's the easiest.
if u installed it urself, bring ur jack stands out.

trouble shoot the charge pipe (tbody side) first since u got it coming in.
the hot side pipe is harder to check.

if problem still exist.
Check ur fmic fittings.
at that point ur front bumper is off and u should be able to look
at the hot side pipe from underneth -
number 16

u can also see it from the engine hood -
shine a light down.

i was think'n myself of replacing that
plastic pipe on the hotside with a ss straight pipe.
I believe u can access that pipe from the wheel well (remove the lining).

Thanks Frankie.

Why is it then that most of the reported problems occur with the upper intercooler piping (ala charge pipe) as oppose to the side coming from the turbo to to the intercooler? From what I understand, the intercooler actually reduces the pressure due to loss of some efficiency, therefore the hot side should be of higher pressure and therefore higher stresses than the charge pipe side.

Can someone with some technical understanding shed some light onto this topic?

Sounds like you are having the same problem I had. I don't believe its your chargepipe. You might want to take off your jb4, clear the codes and have them look at it. I had similar problems and they ended up replaced my boost solenoid. It fixed the problem for about a week and my boost was gone again. I've just been to lazy to see what the problem is.

None. If I get on the throttle it throws the half engine light.

If I'm driving at partial throttle, the car feels normal. No half engine light comes on. As soon as I get on the throttle, the half engine light comes on and there is no boost.

However, according to the hijacked gauge, there is no boost built at partial throttle either.

That's because it's not building any. This may be a common problem lurking with our n55s. I'm at about 41k miles, you?

When my charge pipe blew in half during a race I obviously lost all boost but I never got a check engine. I drove about 20 miles and never got the engine light seems odd.
