Search eBay for K+DCAN and you'll find a series of cables. They should work on any E90 chassis. You can buy the same cable from www.bimmerretrofit.com (a site vendor) for around the same price you'll find on eBay.

Alright and the problem I'm having is that I canT connect with the car. When I open the program I don't have those black dots that indicate if I'm connected

It may or may not be relevant to you depending on the car(s) you're interested in coding, but it will help your decision re cables. A lot of people buy their cables from eBay seller Automotive-scan-tools: stores dot ebay dot com/automotive-scan-tools?_trksid=p4340.l2563. She's out of stock but says she'll have more within a week.

EDIT: Check Posts #2294 and #2359. There's some good info between those two posts as well but read those at a minimum.

Then either K+DCAN cable will work (i.e. Pin 8 connected or disconnected). A cable with it connected will let you code older cars, and a cable with it disconnected will let you code newer cars. Or you can just order the cable with it disconnected and request the adapter that will restore Pin 8 connectivity when needed. I don't know how much the eBay seller I mentioned charges for it, but I'd contact her to find out. She may throw it in for free if you buy a cable from her.

slow progress

So I was able to get my cable functioning over the weekend and get INPA working (still couldn't clear my airbag error,- yet, but that's another story).

When trying NCSExpert today I got the following error at step 40 of the DIY (after selecting e89 (chassis) and CAS;

"ERROR: VIN is faulty COAPI-1060 error in coding description file a_e65cas.ipo"

When I select OK the screen remains greyed out, no info.
Anyone else had this problem?

i used to get that error. solved the problem by deleting ncs, inpa, ediabas folder from the local disk and extracting them again.

Turn your latency down to 1 for whatever COM you are using.

My Cable is K + D CAN. I downloaded the INPA 5.0.2 and EDIABAS 6.47, followed up the installation instructions to installa the INPA. It seems everything worsks fine. I can check my DME, transmission module and most of the modules. However, I can not check smoe of the modules like remote control and trunk lid module. Evertime I connect to these modules, it shows IFH-0009 error message.

The vendor told me that my cable is K + D CAN and it is able to check all the car including F-serials car, F10. To check F-serials car, the pin 8 has to be removed. So, if I want to check my car, E39, with this cable, I need to have pin 8 installed. The vendor sent me the cable with pin 8 removed, and he also included an adapter, if I want to check my car, I need to use this adapter.

As I connect the cable with the adapter, the battery and ignition shows "OFF" on the INPA main screen, but I can check most of the modules. If I connect the cable to the car without the adapter, the battery and ignition shows "ON", but, I CAN NOT read any modules. Every module I connected, all show IFH-0009 error message. So, the cable with adapter works fine but it does not have battery and ignition feedback and when reading the modules which require to check the battey and ignition fails.

Search for the related solution and found the following thread
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1505990

This thread is for VAG cable and it shows using MProg to "fool" the ignition signal. I used this way to change my cable's setting as the thread said.
I changed "Invert RI # and DSR # signals" and changed the all the I/O to the following setting (I did not backup original setting)
#C0 = RXLED
#C1 = TXLED
#C2 = POWERON
#C3 = PWRON
#C4 = SLEEP

After that, I wrote it to the cable EEPROM?? (No sure this)

Test this cable again, and no luck.
Tonight, I will check the cable pin setting but except this, does anyone know what should I do?

Thanks

Ohh boi....dont use that file. You should only use files that come off you car. You can run into serious issues running another cars .man file.

You need to get a fsw_psw.trc file from your car, find the line you want to change and then save it as a .man file. Once that is completed, use that file to code your car.

Can I get access to the spreadsheet please? I just sent a request via Google Docs. I'm coming from E60 forum but we'd like to try some coding on my friend's E90.

Btw, 12V (DRL mode) angel rings are very cool on E60 LCI. I'm sure it must be possible on E9x too (at least on facelift models).

is this file supposed to look like this?

What the guy above me said. Do NOT use another car's TRC or MAN file. The file you screenshotted still has a TRC extension, so that right there is problem #1. Change that extension to .MAN and then try coding again -- but yes, use a TRC file pulled from your own car.

You need to get a fsw_psw.trc file from your car, find the line you want to change and then save it as a .man file. Once that is completed, use that file to code your car.
