They just updated the app and now it includes some new cool features such as registering a new battery and requesting a regen. On another note, there are some coding items that did not work for me.

After importing a log file into a spreadsheet tool, the BMWhat app is only sampling data at a 3sec rate (with 6 parameters being monitored). That's a lot of lag. This is slower sampling than the Torque app, and way slower than the Bavarian Technic (for the same number of parameters it gives ~0.3sec intervals). I was hopeful this tool might replace my Bav Tech tool, but it won't completely do that if its this slow on updating the data its taking. Do others see a faster response than 3 seconds between samples? I also find the gauges hard to read. I went back to the normal parameter view. Is there a way to make it automatically come up in parameter view and self connect to the dongle similar to Torque? Right now I have to fuss around with several steps before going into parameter view. With Torque I can just tap the app icon and it automatically comes up with my gauges and self connects to the dongle. I do like the extra paramters you can view with it that Torque can't with its generic OBD interface. |

I was going to do the same, but you beat me to it.
Please let us know what Parvis says. I know I have sent him some suggestions for finding new PIDs to display- I basically said anything with boost and DPF in the description. I still cannot find a good param to read the boost number on BMWhat.

I'm on board to help out. I have the full version of the app and use a blue BT dongle from amazon. Still haven't gone forward with buying their branded dongle.

Can you use this to code anything that's out there? or is it limited. For example, retrofit coding.
Also, do you have to use a bt dongle? Can you use a cable? edit: just checked out there website. I guess you can use a cable but can you use any usb to mini adapter?

If you look at this remember it's showing absolute pressure, which includes normal atmospheric pressure (~14.6psi). So the no boost conditions will still show ~ 14.6psi... |

Just a quick question. I have tried the lite version on android and a cheap bluetooth obd module off ebay. It connects successfully.
I'm mainly interested in the parameters which Torque Pro doesn't show active. Like EGT and DPF related parameters. When using the lite version, i can see a list of parameters on the left. Can't monitor live until i buy the app i think. I'm happy to buy, but just want to know will i get to monitor all of the parameters that come up in the lite version when connected to my car? Or will some be inactive? |

I do agree with that statement, the iPhone version can only read codes, clear them, do some coding but does not give you any current engine operating parameters and it cost you the same as the android version I was so excited when I found this app but then very disappointed due to missing options from what android version can do. Anyway, basic things are there, you still read the codes and you can still do some coding which in turn do really pays for itself. I was ready to pay 150 for some remote coding which I did not do since the app was cheeper
