Hi guys, just wondering if anybody has any tips for cleaning up the black gloss window trim on the e92 M sport models? Mine has discoloured a little near where the trim meets the wing mirror, I've tried polishing it by hand but it's made little if any difference. I'm hoping there is a product out there that will do the job as I don't really fancy having to replace the trim. Over to you guys,

Generally Autoglym Super Resin with a bit of pressure does the job.

Mine got loads of water marks on them, I asked the dealer bodyshop, who decanted some of their cutting paste in to a tin for me, which has worked well and transformed the look totally

For me, SRP wouldn't even touch the water marks left on the trim.

Werkstat Prime Strong would be the best option as it will clean and protect them...



Clearkote Vanilla Moose also works very well and is a cheaper alternative (doesn't protect as well as the Prime Strong)...

I would have gone with Autoglym Resin Polish to clear the oil and grim. Worked wonders on mine.

For the black plastic like the rear splitter, Auto Finesse Revive is the stuff to have at the moment.

Is this something BMW wash the cars in? I cant for the life of me get my trims around the window clean. The marking is as per the pic up in this thread....awful and drives me mad!!

I read somewhere on here that it's due to washing without PH neutral shampoo. Also had this confirmed by a detailer at the weekend. I tried autoglym super resin on mine and it worked wonders

It's down to using harsh chemicals found in the likes of TFR etc.

It's not just BMW who use them, your local hand car wash will do too.

I'd go with a compound of some description, as SRP doesn't cut much, it's more of a finishing product.

Mine had the water marks. I gave them a wash then just clayed the water marks off with a bit of shampoo for lube. Easy peasy.

Yea i tried SRP and it had no effect. Will try something stronger!
