I'm not sure I follow your logic on engineers. Engineers create the parts, which are manufactured by a multitude of companies. If a part fails due to a manufacturer's defect it is covered by the warranty. |

You really have to ask? I mean the dealership charges 400+ for a battery change in these cars. How much do you think twin turbo costs and the labor on it? Really.. This price has been quoted quite a few times on the boards btw

To answer one of the previous posts, yes you can wait to purchase BMW warranties until just prior to 4/50 expiring and at ANY dealership, i.e. shop around. After the 4/50 only the PT through BMW is available.
For the sake of comparison what are the names of some trusted 3rd party companies. Heard Ford, Fidelity and few others mentioned on here.

This is where the risk reward eval comes in. From what I have seen over the past few weeks here (newbie): 335 higher risk of expensive repairs, 328 not so much. I would also take into consideration things like miles that you didn't put on it, year - proximity to the first MY of say a new platform, clear maintenance history etc. |

Here are quotes I got from USAA.
Comprehensive Protection Plan 12 months from purchase date or 12,000 miles from purchase One payment of $1,472.08 Comprehensive Protection Plan 24 months from purchase date or 24,000 miles from purchase One payment of $2,211.86 Comprehensive Protection Plan 36 months from purchase date or 36,000 miles from purchase One payment of $3,524.88 Comprehensive Protection Plan 48 months from purchase date or 48,000 miles from purchase One payment of $5,634.26 Looks like the BMW one that covers an extra 3.5 years and 50,000 miles for $3900 for platinum coverage is definitely the way to go! |

And just to be clear, if the 335i can't be owned past the 100,000 mile warranty period (100,000 is the max I see BMW willing to let people pay for) then the car is a peice of shit. That said, if you expect it to only last 100,000 miles and drive great while doing it, then by all means, it's your money so do what thall wilt. |
