i had the headlamps replaced under warranty after 4 months as they were full of moisture cost £800 per lamp! now 2 months later the new ones are doing the same thing. this cant be normal? has anyone else had this problem? car is 2011 335d e92

Are the top covers fitted properly? I used to get this occasionally with my previous car - I just waited for a hot dry day (unlikely I know!) then took the covers off and blasted the front covers with a hair dryer until they were completely clear, left the covers off for a few hours with the lights in the sun then put them back on. I didn't have any problems for the next couple of years after doing this.

thanks for the suggestion i will check but the car was new in dec 2011 so the covers should have been secure from the factory as should the replacements

on my 09 plate LCI I ended up getting smears on the inside of the headlights after two years from new it was so bad it actually caused the light output to be affected. In end BMW came out inspected and both lights where replaced. New units have had no problems at all.

Get it dried out indeally one day when its hot and sunny and then recheck all the covers and seals hopefully it will work

the top covers are only plastic with a simple seal. They are not going to 100% resist changes in atmospheric pressure. Imagine driving up to the ski resorts in the alps, air within the headlights will get out, and will get back in when you drive back down.
As said, either covered garage or park in in the sun with covers off, hood open. If you're in a hurry, the wife's hair dryer works really good

its not so much drying them out as they have now dried out but they shouldnt do it in the first place. ive not seen any others and wonder if its just unfortunate ive had 2 sets that are faulty?

If there's damp air inside the unit, sometimes it will condense on the lens when the temperature changes. Mine do it every so often too. I've known people tape bags of silica gel inside the cover to take up any moisture, which can help.

I noticed this earlier when i washed my motor. The driver side unit completely fogged up while the other side didnt. Soon cleared after 5 mins though.

my 2006 e90 has the same.. after tracing it back in my head I think it may have started when i pressure washed my car I guessed some water has got in somewhere and everytime it now rains or gets washed it gets cloudy..
in your case if it's still under warranty I would just take it back and complain again!
