One common misconception is that a clay bar will remove swirls/scratches. However, they do not...clay simply glides across the painted surface to pick up bonded contaminants and dirt that is left behind after a wash. That is the reason a contaminated car will discolor a clay bar.

For the images you supplied, you'll certainly need to have that area compounded/polished/finished to remove what looks like moderately deep marring.

Head on over to Autopia.org as I know there's plenty of reputable detailers in your area that can take care of the problem.

Shame you're not closer to us, we'd be more than happy to tackle the issue.

Good luck!
Nick

Give us a call, we are located in Hillsdale in Bergen County - very close to Rockland. We have a professional detailer on site and will be able to take care of you!

Thanks for the responses. I decided to take the car to someone local when I'm back home though.

you should contact him sal. they ran a GB a year and half ago (Fall of 2007 I believe) and it was around $150 for a clay, wash, wax, $50 for paint correction, and $50 for interior + engine - so $250 for a Detailer Domain quality detail...thats a bargain
