OEM Paint - Old & New
For those of you that that did a new paint on any parts of your car using OEM paint code, did you notice any color difference? I know paint can change slightly over the years including OEM paint on cars. I wanted to order a bumper with new OEM paint applied but my car's paint is 10 years old. Any thoughts?

It's best to have a reputable body shop analyze your original paint and then match your new bumper to it.

My thoughts are the paint is not gonna match - especially on a bumper, which takes the paint differently than metal all the time, couple that with your 10yr old paint & you can almost bet there will be mismatch.
How bad, IDK, also depends on what color primer/basecoat they use under the color coat as this alters the shade of final paint. Best to use same color as OEM... Buying prepainted parts is never gonna be the best choice, might be cheaper, but you get what you pay for. Mebbe you won't mind the mismatch, but it bothers the snot out of me. I have all my parts painted locally, they use a meter to read the color of adjoining panels & use those figure to tweak the new paint formula. Even then, sometimes they need to blend adjacent panels - which is more $$ Plus with local shops I use I get lifetime warranty on quality of paint & application And believe it or not, White is a very hard color to match

White is one of the hardest colors to match, even with the car present. So you're pretty much guaranteed to not match.

Tl;dr Order unpainted parts and take them to a reputable body shop. They'll help match the paint as close to perfect as they can.
I ordered an M3 rep bumper in april and had it painted by a local (VERY highly recommended) body shop. They wanted to analyze the paint because of the car's age, but when they did they said that the paint hadn't changed over the 7 years it's been on the car. They painted it BMW code 475 (Black Sapphire Metallic) and it matched perfectly.

Thank you guys for the info and yeah I didn't commit to it since it was my problem before with one of my cars. The guy from the body shop just wanted to to do fast one on me which I didnt fall for. Plus their warranty is 6 months only so forget it then.
I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS !
