Way to go JP,i like what i see!! Upgraded turbos have a much better power curve that should carry power to 7k rpm. Im very excited to see the power that these will make! Keep us posted more pictures would be great! If all goes well count me in!

So this upgrade is just changing the compressor wheel and clipping on exhaust turbine?

The turbine shaft is very thin, adding the much larger compressor wheel will add huge amount of pressure on the shaft and cause problems. That is what I was told by two turbo shops thus I gave up on the whole upgrading stock turbos. Only time will tell.

I do agree, having upgraded turbine wheel would make some more power at high rpms. Rob remember you from 3si a few years back, upgraded exhaust wheel made a nice difference in my 3/S. TD04-HL 15g's.

Still I have a lot of optimism for the n54 3.0L Straight 6 good things will come for this car.

450whp on pump gas with supporting mods would be nice. 11 second passes all day every day on pump would make for one nasty street car.

The turbine wheel/shaft and the CHRA are all really meek and need attention. If I were you I'd ping AMS about their FP Turbos and see what they though about the increase in power, or GT Pro, or TD, or anyone else with compressor only upgrades before you install. If they are doing a full upgrade later, comparable to ASR/RD, then you maybe better of waiting until then. Turbos not only need to push air, but the need to pass it as well... And clipped or not that turbine is too restrictive and is sized well for the OEM compressor IMHO.

e92fan/turbodynamics specifically seemed to have success with their stage 1 setup which this is comparable to. Again, this is sort of being developed on my car so if things need to change they will.

Hate to say it, but I was involved in the AMS project (some tuning help), and Its my opinion that at least these are like 2k max, you are wasting your time.

What is max pressure these guys recommend for the little upgrades? Any efficiency beta charts?

Drag times/traps or dyno sheet overlays? Maybe even street pulls? Really need that type of data to substantiate success (performance increase) in an upgrade.

No worries, just trying to help you out.

Rob, we'll be doing before/after dyno pulls/logs on their mustang dyno. This is all happening ASAP. Hopefully within the next week or so, so we'll know sooner than later. Also eventually if this makes decent power and we keep it as is, I'll go back to the other dynojets I've been to (where I have many pulls to compare to).

Sorry, I wasn't clear. My last comment was directed towards your comment about TD's success with the compressor only upgrade (as quoted). Nothing to do with your current project.

Either way I am curious to see the data, also the price point is very important depending on the type of performance increases.

I've always been hesitant about compressor-only upgrades. I guess we'll see how this turns out very soon. I don't think we'll see the same gains with saw with the a full CHRA upgrade (ASR kit) but it is also much more affordable. It would be very cool if this gave us the same power at slightly less boost. Or another 30-40hp when turned up.

I did this on my stock 89 supra's CT26 turbo and it was a very nice bump in power. It moved the power band up and screamed till redline. I did replace the cartridge because the stock one had too much play. Nice affodable upgrade, can't wait to see your info/results!
