BMW vs Audi

I searched around on this but i didnt get very far as a lot is taken in....

I purchased a new 09 plate BMW, ever since i have friends and family giving the old "you should have bought ????? because *******" mainly it was said an Audi is better due to their history - even a model head on head against a BMW .

One comment that was given is a BMW interior is too plain i couldnt believe that but since Audi's have never attracted me, what's everyone opinion - Audi or BMW which would you go for if you had the chance and why?

Any positive facts i could mention about BMW?

I'd always go for an Audi.

I'm on my 3rd E92 and 5th 3er Coupe - every time I come to buy a new one I ALWAYS forget to go to the Audi garage.

But, it is a very good question for a BMW forum...

Audis in my point of view have lost it in the last 5-6 years, they luck of new ideas in car design.. and i will make myself clear.

Have a look at the latest facelifted A3 front. And then go and have a look at an A4 or an A5 or the new A5 sedan, or an A6, and even a Q5 and a TT. They are all identical twins..I wouldnt pay a fortune on an A5 for example knowing that its a clone of an A3.

I must admit though that the interior of an Audi is superior to the Beemer

My choice is BMW all the way but I do think the latest interior of Audi is miles better than BMW. The only Audi I'd seriously consider is an A5, or more likely the new A5 Cab which is just gorgeous. I'd go for a 911, Lambo or Aston V8 over the R8 too.

Audi's just seem to 'miss the mark' each time. Only just though.

I always felt Audi interiors look like a VW Golf??

Yep....but i think everyone would give their honest neutral opinion otherwise if i wanted everyone to say "Audi's are the best" i would have posted in an Audi forum no offence to Audi drivers though

In terms of performance something like a 335i kills a bog standard Audi. Then we get into the RS and S's. Then things tend to get a little closer. Even then M3's and M5's still rule on track...

Did you buy the car for yourself, or to pander to all of your friends and relations ?

Who cares what others think or whether your decision is peer accepted - you chose the BMW using your reasoning. Your choice not theirs.

I don't for 1 minute consider what others would think when I am shopping for a car. And I certainly didn't ask on the internet for strangers' approval.

It is a personal choice.

Sure as eggs is eggs, someone will disagree with your choice.

Never had that comment. Yes there is always the odd person who prefers a Merc, or an Audi..

Just like you prefer the bmw.

Ive driven nearly all the current Audi range, with the exception of the R8, they dont drive as well as a bmw.

The only thing the A5 coupe has over the 3 series is interior styling. Otherwise drives numb and feels heavy.

True....but i just needed some knowledge on how i can "fire back".

I agree i love the car but when others try to dampen it out and try to find weakness in the car and you dont have anything to fire back with you at times feel youve not done your homework before buying.

So overall its always good to be able to give facts when someone says something negative.

O/P - why does it matter what others think and why should you perceive it as a personal insult what make of car you drive? Many peeps are ignorant re. cars tbh. I've driven an A5 and it drove very differently from the S5 but everyone lumps it in with the A5........who cares at the end of the day. I know there's a difference which is good enough for me.

I buy a car based on what I currently want/like from that marque and model. To me this is an important point, no way are all models produced by the same marque as good as their top of the range or sportier models etc. in my experience.

Back to the point Steering probably better in the BMW's I've owned compared to this S5 but RS4 steering spot on. Audi interior/quality shows up the beemers I'm afraid imo. I could have easily got a M3 which I do like btw, but I don't drive on a track everyday so ......

Enjoy what you drive ultimately.

Audi better due to their history?? BMW interior too plain? Jeez I wouldn't give give a toss for their opinion mate. If someone's being negative and you love the car you have to ask yourself why

What model e90 have you bought?

Yeh, the Ultimate Driving Machine

OP your friends are just mad that you've bought what is considered to be a "pinnacle" motor. An 09 plate Bimmer is not something to be fobbed off. It's pure quality. Ever heard of jealousy?

From what I've heard BMWs outhandle Audi's. The only real thing Audi has over BMW is a supercar...Oh yeh and the interior (like that matters) ...but it may do to you.

That is all.

I get confused with the E90 models but....

1.8D SE Business edition, leather seats, iDrive, the V angle on the bonnet or whatever you may call it.... for me i love it, it connects to my bluetooth and i dont have to do anything with my phone to make a call, it has a hard drive which allows me to save music, 3D navigation in some areas, USB to backup/export music (i think), i felt that it picks up better than my previous car, smooth corners....i can even talk to it to play a CD, put the radio on .... Its like my KITT

On a serious note i dont care what they think but since the comments are coming from mrs side it makes her question me, about other cars but i know we both love BMWs, but since its from close members the thought crops in.
