*** Alignment Help ***

Anyone who knows about steering and alignment is greatly appreciated.

Recently I installed vorshlag camber plates, and got an alignment at a local Wheelworks on their Hunter Alignment system.

Previously my set up was at -1.3 camber and .12 toe, and it had no problems with driving/steering.

Now with camber plates installed, -2.8 camber and .12 toe. (height is same for both)

(caster went from 7.6 to 7.0)

Now when I drive, when I make a right hand turn and then drive straight, it pulls to the right. When I make a left hand turn and then drive straight, it pulls to the left.

I've called Wheelworks, and they could not give me a reason over the phone but said to just take it in. They had told me that adjustment to our cars are only camber and toe. I called another shop and they could not tell me the reasoning.

Can anyone who knows about alignment and steering chime in on your thoughts? Greatly appreciated, thanks.

what kind of spring/strut setup do you have? Do your camber plates have a swivel bearing like the factory strut tops do?

if there isn't a swivel bearing, or if it isn't swiveling properly, when you turn the wheel on a front strut suspension, the spring can twist/bind and "stick" in that direction a bit. This can pull your steering.

that's the only idea I have.

Mike, thank you for your reply. I have KW v2 coilovers with Vorshlag camber plates. Camber plate has a ball joint.

I can see what you are saying though.

found and fixed the problem, tophat holding the spring(progressive style spring from kw2) was binding against one of the bolt of camber plate. Freed it up and now is good.
