JB4 w/ E85?!

Anyone run this setup yet? I'm only now starting to read up on it but was just curious if anyone with JB4 has ever ran 92/E85 mixture? Terry just put out a new firmware update and I am excited to run it in the next couple days. Although I only have DCI w/ JB4.. Damn I need some more upgrades!

I wanna try it when I run my car on the drag strips, but from what I read, many people have been running it flawlessly for thousands of miles. Just make sure you run a 50/50 mix with 92 octane on map 5 and you should be good to go

50/50? I was thinking of trying 70% 92 and 30% E85.. I read that a lot of people are doing that mixture and have been seeing some crazy results..

Yeah that should be okay too, as long as you don't exceed 50% e85, your fuel pump should be okay.

Just read up a little on it... sounds awesome! Do you guys know if it is possible to share a USB cable to upgrade the JB4? I was cheap and never bought one lol. I definitely will if I have to cause I want this new map 5. Btw chicks have you ever dyno'd your car? Would you mind sharing what mods you have?

My USB cable routes into the ECU cover under the glove compartment so it's pretty snug inside and I'd have to basically take it all apart to disconnect it from the JB4.. Thats the way mine is setup, I can't speak for everyone else.. But if you like you can come over to my place and we could do it.. I plan on uninstalling it for services very soon anyways.. Which is still in debate..

Yeah, you should be able to share the USB cable. I haven't dyno'd my car yet, but I'd imagine I'm around 380ish rhwp & 380ish torque. I'm running Procede, intercooler, DCI, fully catless exhaust, and no meth. I still haven't upgraded my stock charge pipe or diverter valve yet, but they seem to be holding boost okay for 18 psi.

cwarren: thanks for the info, i think i get what your saying. Basically the jb4 has to be installed in order to update the firmware? I would have to install my jb4 w/ harness into his car or remove his cable completely and connect to my jb4?

Were you planning on taking the USB cable out along with the jb4? I think you'll be fine leaving the cable in and just uninstalling the jb4 for service. But if you want to take the cable out too, I can give you a hand. Jb4 install/uninstall I can do quickly and easily but I have no experience with the USB wiring.

Which gas station on the eastside has E85? I'll definitely try it out.

Oh I don't have problems installing or uninstalling my JB4.. Its easy and I can do it in 15 min both ways.. I usually just keep the USB cable still routed every time I remove it. I'm just debating whether or not I should remove it. I have an appointment this Friday and this is my last service before my warranty expires. I won't have anytime from now until then to remove it either. Anyone ever taken there car to northwest BMW w/ their JB4 still installed?

Whoa thread jacked my own thread! Hah

I just put some E85 in mine the past Saturday. The closest station I could find is in Snoqualmie; Shell, about a block north of I-90. It was $3.85/gal.

I can't comment on performance as I recently removed my JB4 in anticipation of an upcoming service.

Looks like 25 on Google Maps. There's only one Snoqualmie exit, where 18 hits I-90
