How far out of warranty are you? That's a known issue for some early model E9x vehicles. Basically the back of the seat clip, female portion, rubs against the console wearing away the paint. Later models have a peice of material atttached to the back of the seat belt clip. You can get spray interior paint to cover that, remove the console etc.. DIY should be in that section for console removal but I'd see if they would good will fix that first based on your warranty poistion and if you are the original owner.

My 335i had the exact same issue. The dealer replaced mine under warranty without any fuss. I don't know of anything you could do to fix (other than replaced) it that would match the rest of the interior.

Wtf! Not even my RSX-S had this issue which I had for 7 yrs. I guess I/we expect too much from BMW (German cars)

I beleive there is a rubber coating, not paint. So spray would probably make it look really bad.
I have this in various places of my car, with the driver's door handle pull being the most annoying to me. Especially because the whole door needs to be replaced....not just the door pull. Find a totaled E90 with the same interior. Swap it out. |

hi dear friends. I have a BMW e90 325i, with the same problem, And I repair it myself.
With a product on Ebay, ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/33-33-100ml-...#ht_692wt_1187) Select the color on Drop Down List on page) It's a paint and you can doi t your self gently with a Brush. I REPAIR IT COMPLETY, just a few paint WITHOUT remove any parts from the console, just carefully. the product is LITTLE bottle of DAKOTA BEIGE, ( oem color from BMW) about 18 dollars. So you have to use it carefully, and the result is just amazing, no one can note that the interior is repainted. I'm from Costa Rica, so please excuse my poor English, hope to help to community. Best Regards. |

I have the EXACT same thing on my 06 330xi, as well as some really annoying peeling on the driver door handle thing attached to the window buttons...pisses me off...I can scratch it off with a finger.
Anyone get any results from paint ect...? |

i wouldnt waste my time doing DYI and fixing that. If you are planning to keep the car for long time, buy that new piece and replace defective.

I had something similar happening on my car, wasnt as bad but the edge was wearing off in a similar fashion exposing the white plastic beneath,
I had ordered some color matched leatherique "dye" to do some touch up work on my bolster (see my other thread about that) and I used some of it to touch up the console as well, just blotted it on with the tip of a paper towel, I think the grain hides the edge of the touch up. It came out pretty good Id say! Last edited by jeffb335; 07-18-2013 at 11:47 AM.. |
