11-12-07 MIR track rental / 1st 9 sec. pass for BMW in the US / My new best time

Another GREAT track rental at MIR today. Weather was wet last night but stopped raining early this morning. Track finally opened around 12:30. Many historic and great runs today as well as many broken parts. Its the end of the year and the last track rental so it seemed everyone was putting everything they had into their runs today.

We saw:

-1st 9 second pass from a street driven BMW in the US.....9.92 and he's got more in it. See here for more: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=870770

-Highest trap from a street driven BMW, different car from above best ET. Ulysses trapped an unreal 148mph on a 10.2 run

-1st x600 Mercedes in the 10's without nitrous!!! VERY impressive for a daily driven very heavy car. It was a Cl600 that hit a 10.9.

-11 flat bone stock Z06

and many more

The track was honestly not well prepped due to the rush in getting it dry so the 35 impatient car owners could get on the track. I personally could not get consistent 60 ft times so I cant imagine what the boys running 1000hp+ were facing.

I got my best run to date and broke my personal goal of getting into the 12's on the stock HORRIBLE run flats w/ my only mod being V1.47 procede. Car is a 6MT so it required some serious peddling and shifting to get the time.......I was happy . Fastest 6Mt on stock rubber??? Maybe .

Can't wait to get my intercooler installed (its on the way), custom exhaust, V2, and new wheels and tires and then retest. 12.5's??

Here is the slip and the launch.

Here is a very brief collection of shots that I have edited from my camera and also my friends camera who spent the whole day in his perch shooting video and stills. Enjoy! More to come.

Mike Radowski who hit the 9.92

Donovan, he was going all out.....broke at least 3 half shafts today. He's an animal running 10's in his e30. I swear he was sideways going into 4th gear and didnt get out of it. Just insane and intense.

Track prepped bike, running 9 flats and making it look so easy at 150mph.

this guy was in the 10's and actually got his front wheels up for a good bit on one of the runs. If I find one of those photos I'll post it up.

Here is Jay's CL that broke into the 10's...icing down his intake.

RS6

SL55

Beautiful wheels and brakes.....he broke an axle today when he hit his nitrous for the 1st time ever.....

11.009 stock on dr

yeah man that car was sick, easy 10 second car if he could hook it up. Very nice guy. He was complaining about having bad traction and spinning all 4 wheels hard. He finally hooked it and brought the front tires up. I dont know what mods or what kind of power, but it was a fully track prepped car that was done right (road track prepped).

More pics to follow.

Radowski on his 9.92 run launching

My cousin on his beautiful MV Agusta launching

Track bikes

Unreal mustang w/ huge supercharger......unreal sound. I had to cover my ears during his burnouts. Got of his front wheels well off the ground I'll have to post.

Ulysses after burnout

Launching on his way to a 148mph trap........

FAST supra (it has a parachute)

great pics and nice run, thanks for sharing..

damn, a stock Z06 with nothing but DR's running an 11 flat on a less than perfect track, it's definitely got a 10 sec pass in it's future...do some heads and cam work and it's probably in the 9's.....

Nice run! Our little 335i's seem quite slow compared to those race cars

By the way,

It really was a fun day! I'm still pumped up from the day but sooo ready to crash and sleep till Christmas.

As for the above pic, if Ulysses can actually pull of a GOOD 1/8 mile he'll be deep into the 9's. His car has crazy power and I dont think he's even running high boost .

This Supra was one of the more impressive out there to me, look at the rear tire wrinkling!!!

By the way,

Thanks! and keep in mind....there is ALWAYS someone faster. Most of these guys run these cars on the street. So pic your battles wisely.

That being said, if you came across most of these cars and still thought you could beat them after hearing their engine/exhaust, you are either deaf or just plain stupid.

Great job Sniz. Excellent trap and ET for RFTs. I think yours is the third fastest on RFTs, behind maxboost and DrewKo, but they were both ATs. So it looks like you are the fastest 1.47 MT so far

Looks like a big gathering of some cool cars.

I'll take that! I'm sure the AT cars are easier to launch, brake boost and stomp it as much as your tires will allow. Simple right? I'm sure its more complicated than that but the MT cars will ALWAYS be harder to launch. Now that I hit 12's the RFT are gone, I made my goal.

That 9 second E36 could be such a street sleeper! Great times for a 6M. I think im going to put my stock RFTs on! My best 60' times were actually on my stock tires, not my 19" Generals. What were the track temperatures out there?

I enjoyed very much my first time ever at a drag strip. It was a great day and met some nice people and cool cars.

I got to work on my r/t. Here is my last run.

Next time I might have V2.x if Shiv eventually ships them!

Good to meet you and your friend yesterday, glad you had fun! We'll be back out there next spring i'm sure, so you got time to practice just like everyone else. Sure was fun watching some of those guys go at it wasnt it? Makes you realize the 335 is a "fast" daily driver, but thats in relation to other "fast cars"

Then you have FAST cars such as the ones there yesterday. If your still spinning your slicks in 4th gear, going sideways across the 1/4 mile mark and still run a low 11 you have a FAST car.

The steps have proven to be much easier to launch than the manual cars getting better 60 ft times down to the 1.6 range w/ DR. Yours being a diesel I dont know, but you certainly arent lacking in torque!

The stock Z06 running 11 flats is not out of the ordinary in the hands of a good driver. Some owners w/ 100% stock cars power wise w/ just drag radials have gotten into the 10.8 range........thats an insanely fast car off the showroom floor. Cams, headwork, exhaust and tune and they are deep into the 10's possible 9's. Just sick.

But its a vette

Surely a well launched manual car will be quicker than a well launched Step, just STep is easier to launch??

Would you mind sticking your pic and slip in my thread sniz buddy?
