yeah this is weird, i understand your reasoning and will not dispute it but my opinion would be to leave it alone or debadge it if anything. GL

So you want to rename your car because the number does not reflect the displacement of the engine? As long as it's what you want, keep in mind the majority of BMW owner and enthusiasts will see it as a "wanna be" re-badge regardless of how you justify it.

My 328 is currently debadged because I changed to a CSL trunk, never put a badge back on it. I have been thinking of putting the 328xi on it...Maybe I will confuse most people and badge it as an "e90"
Badge it how you like. I understand the semantics of your logic, but it is officially a 328i regardless of engine displacement. If I was that concerned about the badge and the right displacement, I would take it off completely. Just my .02...good luck with your decision.

Man I don't give a fuck what's on my trunk. I have a 328i and for all I care they could have branded my trunk as "this poor bastard drives a 328"...there is more to the car than the badge, but whatever you do, it will be fake.

If you were looking for a vote I'd say its pretty unanimous, stick with your 328i badge or debadge. I don't think changing the badge is cool either.
PS can you answer what a persian conversion is? |

It's all about money OP.... BMW doesn't want to make 4 engines for the same model car anymore. There's no need for a 2.5, 2.8, & a 3.0, if you could just keep squeezing more power out of the 3.0. Less money spent on R&D, it's elementary really. Who the fuck cares that much that they changed their naming system? Ridiculous.

I still haven't touched it, the badge doesn't bother me enough. Think I'll wait to do a 3-stage conversion ONLY out of respect for the 2006 330i.

Oh. I see that often. Can't say I've ever seen a Persian individual do that though. As a matter of fact, many of the Persians I know are quite wealthy and drive actual AMG's.

Who cares OP, you want to do it? Then do it. Always better than slapping a M badge. Its your car so go ahead. You're not going to get a lot of good answers here, a lot of hate will haunt your a** lol

Just out of curiosity, gentlemen, does a BMW get de-badged by using a hair dryer to soften the glue (as works on some cars) or is it more complicated than that? If that's how it works, once the glue is softened by heat, what would be next? Just curious. In the old days, model designation was done with screws that ran through the sheet metal. Getting rid of that was a task only for the ultra dedicated.

I'm going to say this as nice as possible...OP, you're a moron. You're "Persian conversion" makes no sense, especially when you're the idiot trying to stick a 330i badge on a 328i...you truly have the audacity to make that assumption? fking hypocrite.

Anyway, do what you want IMHO I would just debadge.. you can always explain if asked what you have done, so not a "true" 328i anymore? |

Badge the car what it is. I realize you're annoyed about the displacement not matching the badge (and it's pretty dumb) but putting the wrong badge on it isn't much better than me putting an M3 badge on my 335.
