Update:

AutoBulbs (UK) have offered a price of £135 for a pair if we can get ten people for a group buy - still expensive compared to eBay of Germany though! AutoBulbs usually charge £170 for a pair!

TSR - The Retrofit Source (USA) have offered a $10 discount per pair if we get five or more for a group buy. With postage at $44 for all five pairs the overall price after conversion comes to £135 - same as Autobulbs.

I've emailed some german sellers, the guy from eBay got back to me but his offer wasn't for a discount but to include some LED's free... His price is still the best though at €124 (£100) for a pair plus postage

By far the cheapest option

I've asked him this but he insists the price he has them for is the best he can do (But he will throw in some free LED's - part of his xmas offer I think)

By the way I noticed when browsing his other products for sale that the CBI bulbs are listed twice, at two different price points; £100 and £133

When I asked him the difference;

Quote:
some are OEM 66140 CBI,

others retail boxed 66144 CBI.
Apparently these are now standard on Mercedes S Class, so I'm guessing the OEM ones are what Mercedes would buy; non-retail boxed bulbs.

He assures me they are the same bulbs, just one comes in a retail box, the other in plain packaging... £100 vs £133 I know which I will be going for

Sorry a discounted group buy couldn't be got, but £100 for two xenon's is cheap compared to UK/OEM prices

Good luck guys, I will be ordering from our friend in Germany

i think i'll hang on for your review or some better pictures before i purchase these then.

On UK ebay ive seen the OEM 66140 CBI's for sale at £110 posted it would also explain why it says without retail packaging. But it only comes with 6 months warranty.

E92liv, have they arrived yet?

I've managed to bag a second hand set. Cheaper and I don't have to run them for how many ever hours for them to become at there peak

Not yet, any day now; just the UK leg of the journey slowing them down :/

That's good news did you get a steal?

I've done a video of the current OEM bulbs and will get one when the CBI's are fitted for anyone who's interested in a comparison?

All in around £60, so about half the going rate of brand new ones on uk ebay. They are the OEM osram cbi bulbs. i should recieve them this week so hopefully get them fitted by the weekend if its not freezing.

i'm running 6000k bulbs from ssdd at the moment, so it will be good to compare these with the cbi's.

Bulbs have arrived! They will have to wait though, its below zero and getting colder! If its sunny in the morning I might have a stab at fitting them...

Did you fit the ones from ssdd Row? Is it absolutely necessary to remove the wheel arch liner? That's what I've read in a DIY thread re e92?

Unfortunately yes it's not a 5 min job. It's wheel off/ arch liner off to gain access to the back of the headlight. Quite a simply job once you have done it for the first time and know which bolts/ torx to undo. Takes more like 30 mins or an hour if your doing it for the first time.

I've had the bumper off my former e90 when I fitted lci lights so this should be doable

Do they still require you in France to have a spare set of bulbs? How the fuck can they expect someone to change a blown bulb at the side of the road in a 'modern' car!

Well up to now Im quite happy with them, only a few hours on them so far, so they still have the slight green tint in colour - which is normal for the first X hours when new

They are brighter and the beam seems more evenly spread

I will do an update in a week or so when the bulbs have bedded in properly

Both OEM Osram CBI 5k bulbs fitted

Overall i am happy with them but i'm not sure i would pay the full retail price. They are noticeably brighter at night then my 6k bulbs and have that pure white appearance. i brought mine second hand so they should be at there peak, i have lost that blue/ aqua hue i had with the 6k bulbs .

A long overdue update but I'm really happy with these bulbs

They did take about a week to bed in fully- the bulbs switched on for 30-40+ hours. And then the green tint became a ice white colour

Not sure if xenon bulbs deteriorate over time but when I got my 07 e92 last year the xenons were really poor, honestly didn't feel like the car had xenons!

I would recommend the CBI's to anyone who can afford the price!
